The editor of a little ecumenical magazine called "Making Waves" has asked me to write an article about lesbian and bisexual women who have moved from their religion/tradition of origin to a different tradition/spiritual path. Well, actually she asked me to write an article, and I made several suggestions fr topics, and she picked this one. I'm looking forward to doing it, even though the deadline is Feb 24th.
Today I'm working because one of my coworkers is sick. I don't mind, because I can use the money, but it makes for a busy day for me. I go straight from work to a meeting about a new graduate student magazine. I go straight from there to TBN. I'm booked from noon until ten p.m.
The lists I'm on have been filled up lately with war talk and (oddly) discussions of gay animals. I guess people are watching television or something. I personally have no interest in war, and don't really expect that trying to keep up to date on it will make me feel any differently. War is what the US does. It's their hobby. Luckily, they're like one of those people who start projects and never really finish them. And as for queer animals, why is this "discovery" suddenly new? Anyone who ever had a dog knows they'll screw anything that stands still. I never had a dog and I know this. There's a list of same-sex animal behaviour as long as my arm (admittedly, short and stubby) but it's not really "news."
I have a meeting today to discuss what graduate students want in a magazine aimed at them (sounds ominous). I'm tempted to skew the results for fun by insisting that we want less success stories about people now working as CEOs and more stories about people who never got a job. Or who still work at the convenience store where they started when they were 15, despite their degree in computer programming. I want a profile on someone with my degree who works in a call centre. It will help prepare me for the real world. I'm willing to have them profile my video clerking career. And recipies. We want recipies. Different things to do with Kraft Dinner. And stories of finding love at the library, written from a first-person perspective. And some porn. Professor/student porn.
Well, my nails are dry and its time for me to hit the streets.
