I got voted out of the Last Author Standing contest, which is sad.  Yesterday 5 hours of my life disappeared when Livejournal ate a fiction post I'd worked on and had not yet backed up (I know, I know, my bad). I am waiting patiently for things to stop sucking.

I'm sorry to hear that... For what it's worth, I have yet to get any votes whatsoever on any of my LAS submissions, positive or negative. I'd almost rather I got a negative vote or two just so I'd feel like I'd made some kind of impression. I am beginning to feel like all my sense of being a decent writer was illusory and that I'm really capable of nothing but easily forgettable mediocrity.

BTW, I've found the best way to handle fiction or other long LJ posts is by writing it in a text file on my own hard drive, so that I can save regularly, and then just copying and pasting into LJ once it's done. I know that's probably of limited use when you've already lost something, but maybe it'll help for next time.
