AAR conference speech and insomnia

Jul 25, 2009 18:27

Today I did some editing work on my AAR speech, adjusting the language into something easier to speak and less like something to read.  It makes me happy and terrified.

I also took a 5 hour nap which made up slightly for waking up at 3a.m. with back pain and sinus trouble and not being able to sleep again.  I watched two Harry Potter movies and did the laundry before coming home to collapse.  The rain helped considerably.  For some reason I love sleeping during a rain storm.  It's like nature's pause button.

I'm also excited to have recently acquired an mp3 of Still by the Geto Boys [né Ghetto Boys].  For those who don't know, it's the song played during the printer murder in Office Space.  One of the things that has made me sometimes feel marginal as a queer is my love of heavy metal, hard rock, and rap.  Who's the queer Public Enemy?
