After much ridiculousness with a courier company (DHL is run by trained monkeys) my three book set of
LGBTQ America Today has arrived. In case you don't remember, I wrote the entries for monogamy, non-monogamy, polyamory, and promiscuity. It's going for $349.95 on
Amazon.com, which makes me feel as if I've been paid. I think the books will be a good reference guide for my work over the coming years. if you buy books for yourself or for a library or university, check it out.
Also in the world of books, the second edition of
Getting Bi is in the works, to be published this year.
I also have water leaking in through my back door. It's source seems to be water from melting snow which is coming in a crack in the wall. I'm hesitant to simply seal the crack with all that water in there. It's being held in by oil paint on the concrete, but can be felt behind the paint, which now resembles a hot water bottle. The landlord knows, but there's not much he can do until it dries out some.
And I have ice. When it showed I couldn't open my back door. This was a serious fire hazard. So the landlord shoveled the back door. Wednesday night I discovered it was frozen shut. s I tried to kick it open I could picture how upset I would feel as I burned to death against my fire exit with a cat carrier under each arm. The dripping water had created a patch of ice on my back steps that ranged in thickness from .5 to 3 inches. Last night we hacked at it with a saw, a butter knife and a hammer (using the knife as a chisel). Having watched lots of episodes of New Yankee Workshop we wore goggles to protect our eyes. We can now open the door, but there's still lots of ice there. We have salted it, hoping to have another go at it later.
