..I had an email.

Well first off, yesterday afternoon I was browsing autosport.com and checked the jobs section. Autosport themselves were advertising for an F1 Reporter. I knew I had no chance, but I emailed the editor, asking if he had any junior roles and told him about OVERsteer and F1-Paddock. I wasn't sure if he'd reply but you know.

This evening I received this:

Hi Ellie,

Thanks for the message. I’ve checked out your site - very impressive. Your enthusiasm for F1 comes across very clearly.

I have to admit I don’t think you are quite ready for the advertised role. But that’s not to say you should give up on your dream! At Autosport, we are always looking for enthusiastic young reporters who are willing to work hard on the lower rungs of the sport. Jobs do come up from time to time, so keep an eye out for more ads.

I just squeed. Autosport is very professional looking and detailed and yet he thought my little site was impressive!

This is the sort of thing that encourages me to keep trying. You never know who may like what they read and take you on. Damien now knows of me and I hope he'll visit the site again, or keep me in mind if another job comes up :)
