...wow

Oh my god.

Last night was the best night of my life.

We got there about quarter past seven, and there were three other people waiting, and I freaked out! I was like "NO, there WILL be more people than this, there must be." It turns out it hadn't sold as well as they'd hoped, so they moved it from the Academy 2 to 3, which is smaller. Then the most amazing thing happened! We were standing outside, when Mark (the guitarist for the Mission) came outside! But the thing is, I didn't even realise it was him! We were standing there talking to him, and I said how I'd been waiting for this gig forever, and how I hoped there would be more people, and it was him! As he was walking off we said to each other "Do you get the feeling he was somebody really important?" I can't believe I didn't recognise him!

More people did come, and by the time they were doing the sound checks, the place was packed. Seeing as we'd got there almost firt, I'd made sure we were right in front. The support band were really good, though I didn't love them. SAome insane guy was talking to us. He was like thirty. He wouldn't go away and we were scared.

THEN

They came on! And I was screaming! It was The bloody Mission! They opened with 'Hymn for America' at which point, I had just gone crazy with screaming and singing along. Wayne said something like "We were in Stoke last night, bloody rock capital of England [/sarcasm], and they were louder than you! Come on!" And then some idiot shouted "You're starting to sound like The Mission now!" and Wayne said back "who did we sound like before?" and he said "The Sisters of Mercy!" and Wayne said "Well, we'll have to sort that out, won't we?" And they played some more. I was singing my lungs out the entire time. It was so amazing.

Then, I shouted out "Play Mr. Pleasent!" and Wayne shouted back "I'll play it if you sing it" and I went all shy and didn't...

At one point, Mark wasn't playing anything, so he was standing at kinda the back of the stage sipping beer, so I tried to catch his eye. When I did, I mouthed "Sorry!" and he mouthed back "Why?" and I replied "I didn't recognise you! I'm an idiot!" and he laughed and smiled.

They did two encores! Two! The first time they came back, they played Pale, Serpants, and Deliverance. But the second time was the best. It was the vest ending to a gig ever. They played...TOWER OF STRENGTH. They saved their best till last!

We were gonna hang about for half an hour or so at the end to try and meet them, but Yaz had to get home. But I managed to nad the set list off the stage, and I was hoping to get it signed, but oh well, I still got it.

In conclusion, BEST NIGHT EVER.

Pictures to come.
