Well, Lovelies, the Power of Madonna has aired and I can honestly say, that it was the best Glee episode to date.
Yes, I know what you're thinking, "But Minsk! You are an avid Finchel fanatic! How can you sit there and say the episode was good when our darling Finn lost his virginity to Santana Lopez of all people!" Well my dears, the writers do what the writers do, and we can only accept that Finn lost his Finnocense to Santana for the good of his character. In fact, this was an amazing episode for his character development, his emotional development and his maturity. He realized through his mistake that sex should be with someone that mattered. Now I'm sure he is saving himself for Rachel. At least, in my heart he is. He really stepped up at the end of the episode to make things right with Rachel, admitting that it was his fault that they're no longer together. Then to go even further and accept Jessie into the group for the sake of his friendship with Rachel, was really commendable.
That being said, let's break down the other parts of the episode that I enjoyed.
The music they chose was amazing. All of my favorite Madonna songs all in one 42-minute span. Even the ones they used in the hallway scenes were perfect for the subtext of the scene. My favorite song? Of course it was the Borderline/Open Your Heart mash-up! I expect great things to happen when Finn is wearing striped sweaters, and this scene did not disappoint. Here are some of my fave moments:
Library flirting! Did he have to throw the books on the ground though?
OH GOD THE EYE SEX!
PLEASE KISS! PLEASE???
I loved every number they produced. From the Cheerios on Stilts, to the Vogue remake, to 4 Minutes, I loved every moment of the episode. The girls looked uber fierce when they grabbed their crotches at the end of Express Yourself. Like A Virgin was choreographed beautifully. It was truly the most entertaining 42 minutes of TV I have ever seen.
Another favorite random moment: Kurt's WTF face in Vogue!
As far as the plot goes, I think that the respective lies of Finn and Rachel regarding their virginity is going to come up and bite them in the ass, hard. I really hope it doesn't, but I have a feeling something bad will come of this. Lying about your virginity is a big deal in high school, no matter which way you put it. I loved the Tartie scene at the end of the episode, where he says he would get down on one knee if he could. I'm not even a huge Tartie fan and it had me swooning! And I'm upset that Wemma has to go on hiatus because of all the crazy in their lives, but I think it will be for the best.
As for next week's episode, it seems that RM has been reading my fanfics! It's going to be about Finn's mom and Kurt's dad.
Family Ties, anyone?
What did you think about the Power of Madonna? Do you share my overwhelming love, or did it make you mad that Finn did the nasty with S-Lo?
