Many public radio stations link to and broadcast the BBC World Service radio news channel from midnight until 6 a.m. WHYY in Philadelphia is one of those, and sometimes in the middle of the night when I'm in the mood for a few minutes of sound before getting back to sleep, I'll turn it on.
What always amuses me is how aggressive the BBC interviewers are, compared to their U.S. counterparts (on the radio, that is; some American TV news interviewers could get pretty in-one's-face). Without actually appending the words at the end of their sentence, the BBC folks, both male and female, use a tone of voice that clearly indicates that their question is really followed by something in the way of " ..., you twit!" or, if the interviewee is clearly a creep, " ..., you lying scumbag!" I can almost hear the words even though they are only in the broadcaster's head.
