Oooo I say! I rather like that!

Although I still don't know what felting is. And we ahve a knitting group at my house ever month and they speak of such things...

You knit it, put it in the washing machine and the knitting turns into a thicker felt material. It's all very exciting, but smells like wet dog until it dries out!

Do you do anything special to it in the washing machine? And does it shrink? And what wool does it work with? aaaaand... isn't this what happens when I wash my jumpers?

You need to use 100% wool - nothing that's been treated in anyway. You should put it in the machine with something that will agitate it - a couple of pairs of jeans are a good idea.
