RP: We Are Family

There was construction happening on the road by her house, which Jack sincerely hoped as finished soon. Fortunately, the equipment was moved by the time she got off work, but she wanted construction on her house to begin sooner rather than later, and she wasn’t sure how the road repairs would affect that. She had run home after leaving work for lunch because she wanted to pick up some files she had left there. She was also slightly nervous about meeting a stranger who was sort of like family. He was her father’s cousin’s partner, which was close enough to family for her to consider him such, especially when she didn’t really have anyone else.
It was probably strange for him, too, considering the fact that Simon was gone, and there wasn’t any real blood tie between the two of them. Still, he had contacted her instead of ignoring the information, so maybe that meant he wanted to try to be family. She hoped so because it would be nice to have someone she could call family, and blood was highly overrated, as proven by her father’s family and their treatment of her parents.
When she arrived at the bakery, she glanced at the menu and tried to figure out something that could tide her over until after work. There were several kinds of pastries and different kinds of bread, so she bought one of each and a bottle of water before going to find a table. She was early, but she hadn’t wanted to risk being late with the stop at home in between. After getting settled, she took a bite of the bread and waited for the Doctor Whitehall to join her.
