Derrick sighed, rubbing his hands together. After leaving Ty, he had decided to meander around Ft. Worth. Probably not the best idea in the weather, but he had so much on his mind that it hadn't registered until his fingers had started tingling.

He stopped walking and looked around, finally seeing a street sign - oh, good, he hadn't gone too far! Noticing a a business sign, he walked a little closer and smiled. A bakery! Maybe something sweet would perk him up a bit. And if they had coffee, he could certainly use a cup before making the trek back to his car.

Derrick looked over from where he had been studying the menu after Alex had left and gave a half-hearted smile. "Thanks," he said softly. "A little sugar's always a good thing when you're having a bad day, right?"

Derrick raised a brow. "Can they mend an almost broken heart?" he asked and then smiled gently. "Because in that case I'll have to take a couple dozen."

Shaking his head, he couldn't help but laugh at himself. "Well, don't I sound melodramatic?"

Derrick took the brownie, offering a grin. "Thanks." He broke off a corner and popped it into his mouth, eyes widening as he savored the taste. "Oh my God. That's good," he moaned a little, taking another bite and closing his eyes. "That's illegally good."

"You might be right about these brownies being the cure for a bad day," he said, winking. "They're certainly a cure for a bit of drama."

Pausing, Derrick glanced around. "You guys sure are busy," he said. "Must be a good feeling for opening day." Smiling again, he offered his hand. "I'm Derrick, by the way."

Derrick relaxed a little, enjoying the chocolate. "You too, Fisher." He ducked his head a little. "Sorry I didn't make the greatest first impression. Things have been complicated around me lately and it's been bleeding over into everything else I say."

"It's great you guys are having such success. I know I'm going to be a repeat customer for sure. In fact, why don't you give me a couple dozen of those brownies. I'll take them into work with me tomorrow," he said, fishing out his wallet. "Bet I get a few people hooked on them."

"Couple of places. I'm taking these to Angel Abbey, though. I'll probably be back a little later in the week to take something else to the center - The Janus Youth Center," he clarified. "I just started there yesterday. I bet the kids will enjoy a treat."

"We absolutely take volunteers!" Derrick grinned. "I just started and the center itself just opened, but I know we accept help. There's some paperwork involved though - even for just volunteering." Derrick paused. The center's focus wasn't something a lot of people cared about, in fact it made some angry. But, Fisher seemed like a nice guy.

"We're about helping LGBT youth, especially those that are at risk of being kicked out or have already been." He smiled softly. "Something I never had to go through, luckily."

He watched as Fisher finished up with the brownies. "They'll definitely make me a popular person around work."

"Paperwork - the bane of my existence right now," Derrick said, grinning.

Following Fisher over to the register Derrick paused. "Yeah, it's a good place. We're youth oriented, but I don't think we would turn any one away who needed help. I... I have a card here somewhere..." He patted at this pockets before opening his wallet and pulling out both a card for the Janus Center and some cash. "Mine won't be in until next week, but we have some generic cards - if you want them," he offered. Allies were always good.
