If it hadn't been for the fact that she'd gotten Jay's email about American Vampire dropping, Marie wasn't sure she'd have made it through another boring day of filing. As soon as her shift had ended she drove straight for Oddball 42. Normally she would've changed out of her work clothes before heading there, but she didn't want to wait that long to pick up issues 10 and 11.

After parking in front of the comic shop, she got out of her car and smoothed down her black pencil skirt. She was still wondering how other women at the studio managed not to wrinkle their skirts when the drove when she pushed open the doors to Oddball 42. When she spotted Jay behind the counter her face broke out into a big grin.

"How are you doing Jay," she asked as she walked towards the counter. "I hear you got something for me."

Jay smiled at her, whistling slightly. "Doing great, now that you've walked in." She was dressed differently from normal, but he couldn't say he minded terribly much. That skirt was amazing. "Two somethings. Issues ten and eleven for you."

He brought them out from under the counter and held them out to her. "Also for your information. The first ten are now in a graphic paperback that we also have. In case you wanted a copy to flip through without flipping through issues."

Marie laughed when she heard Jay whistle. "Now Jay," she said with a look of mock seriousness. "You don't have to flatter me to keep my business. Thank you though."

Her eyes brightened when she saw that he had also held a copy of eleven for her. "Thank you!" She'd been planning to ask if he'd had a copy of it yet or not. "I already have the hardback copy of issues 1-5, but I'll go ahead and get this one as well," she said sheepishly. "I try to support the series that I really like, even if I know I'm just falling for their repackaging ploys."

"Is it flattering if it's true?" Jay replied back with an easy smile. She looked pretty damn fine in that skirt and shirt combo. He was not complaining. He might be an old dinosaur compared to her, but he was definitely not complaining.

Jay brought the graphic paperback out from under the desk. He'd played a hunch that she might say something like that. "Hey, and you never know when they become collectors items, you'll have one to sell and then you can keep the set of them."

"I guess not, technically," Marie said with a chuckle. She wasn't used to getting complimented, but it was nice change. Let it not be said that Marie O'Shea didn't know how to take a compliment.

"Sell them," she asked with a look of exaggerated horror. "Never! I'm such a hoarder when it comes to comics and books," she admitted sheepishly.

Jay grinned at her. "Ah, another reason why I like you so much." He knew several collectors who bought extras to sell them later and while he could sort of understand that mentality, it would never work for him. He was far too jealous of his collection.

"So other than the American Vampire, Miss Marie, what else can we do for you?" Jay asked, wondering about inviting her to the salsa dancing thing that was going on this weekend. "Got any good weekend plans?"

"Good to know someone else understands that," Marie said. "My brother always gives me a hard time about getting the collection of issues when I already have all of them individually." Marie rolled her eyes jokingly. "Some people," she said in mock exasperation.

"That's all I really came to pick up," she said. "Sleep. Definitely sleep." She silently double checked her mental do to list. "I might practice a little because I'm fix'n to start pointe work again. Neither things will make for a terribly exciting weekend."

"Some people indeed," Jay nodded, fully understanding. He rang it all up for her. "Pointe work? Are you a dancer, Miss Marie?" He grinned at her. " You should come out with us this weekend. Going to one of the salsa clubs. Interested?"

"Sort of," Marie said, mentally smacking herself for throwing around ballet terms again. It was starting to become a bad habit. "I took ballet lessons until I was 14 but just never really quit dancing after that. I'm taking a class this semester though, so I guess, yeah." Not that everyone in her class would agree with that. Marie told herself that it didn't matter what they thought, as long as they just left her alone.

"I mean, if you don't mind me tagging along that sounds like a lot of fun," Marie said with a big smile. She'd never tried salsa dancing before, but it looked like a lot of fun.

Jay smiled widely back at her. "Bet you made the prettiest ballerina there. And there's a whole group of us going, so it's not just old geeky dinosaurs busting out moves last spotted in the Dark Ages."

Which was true, Ty said he was bringing friends, who presumably were his and Marie's age. "And feel free to drag whomever else with you."

"Thanks," she said. "Where is everyone going to meet?" Maybe she's ask Ryan to go. He hadn't gotten out a lot since moving back and she did kind of miss having him around. That way, she'd at least know someone besides Jay. Besides, if Ryan didn't want to go, she could see if Ava wanted to instead. If it wasn't for his knee, Marie would've asked Cody to join too.
