Date: January 31, 2011
Characters: Kudzu Emory, Chris Pho
Location: Central Market Grocery Store
Status: Public
Summary: A supermarket run in
Completion: Incomplete

Scooping up a basket, Kudzu picked his way to the meat section of the store. One thing he had discovered due to his irregular work schedule was the secret of manager's specials. To keep the meat fresh, they marked down everything about expire on weekday mornings. The freezer in his apartment wasn't large, but it could accommodate a few stacks of chicken and chuck meat that would keep him fed for next to nothing. He picked over the selection, keeping in mind what spices he still had at home. When he'd stocked up, he started to head over to the vegetables. An onion or two could make a big difference in bland to edible.

Maybe he could get some potatoes and make one of Auntie Rose's stews. That would last most of the week for dinner and the apartment would smell like home for a bit. He could write the letter he owed Peony while it cooked. He still wasn't sure how to articulate to her the seismic changes in his life these past few days. But it would have to be on paper, he couldn't imagine trying to say any of it out loud.
