Erica was tired by the time her school day was finished. After being out of school for so long, it really was hard for her to be back there, and she couldn't help but think about the money she was missing out on making. As she had sat through her classes, she couldn't help but wonder what she was doing there. Had she made the right choice for her major? Did she really want to be a music teacher? She just didn't know anymore, though she knew that it was too late to change her major and still have any hopes of graduating even remotely on time.
There was so much to think about, and going to work tonight truly hadn't helped make things anymore clearer to her. Pierre announcing at the staff meeting that he'd bought the boutique, that there would be some changes and that he'd been meeting with them all throughout the evening was a surprise she hadn't expected, but what had been even more surprising was how he'd told her during their meeting that he wanted her to manage the shop, to continue working full time.
Erica was torn, confused, and she knew that she wanted to talk to J.J. about it all before she made any decisions. Because, as she was reminded so many times today, they were going to get married, and in spite of all the heavy thoughts in her mind, she still couldn't help but smile widely every time she thought of it. But if they were going to spend their lives together, she kind of thought she should probably talk about such huge life decisions with him before making them. That's what people did, right? And while she knew it was ultimately her decision, she did have someone in her life now that she could use as a sounding board in this, that could help her keep things in perspective, and she wanted him to be a part of her decisions now.
She swung by her apartment on the way to J.J.'s after she got off work, figuring it wouldn't be fair to ask him to leave his house when she was already out and about. She grabbed some clothes and what she would need for tomorrow, and went back to her car to finish the drive to J.J.'s house. J.J. knew she was coming over, and sometimes he unlocked the door for her if he knew she was on her way, so she slung her overnight bag over her shoulder and tried the handle, going inside when the door pushed open, grinning when Devri's dogs greeted her as she moved inside. She petted them briefly before moving further inside, smiling when she saw J.J. sitting in the living room. She dropped her bag near the couch and sat next to him, leaning over to greet him with a kiss.
