Sky really wasn't sure if Mona was just agreeing with him, or if she really agreed with his opinion. This was all a bit of a grey area, the way they were going about this whole situation. They weren't a couple, or at least not a traditional one by any means. A fact which had been amusing when the first nurse had congratulated the happy 'couple' on their bundle of joy. He was happy about the kid, which was still something he was adjusting to, the idea of being a father didn't unsettle him the way he thought it might, and part of him had to wonder if it was the fact that he was in this with Mona, and not some other woman, that made this all the more bearable. The idea of being attached to Mona in this way for the rest of his life, well, it wasn't an unpleasant one.

His mouth turned up in a half smirk as she confirmed they'd be heading to his place. It wasn't a surprise, as of right now Sky had never been to Mona's place, well, besides picking her up today that was. There was a point he was sure he'd have to meet her family, he was pushing that to the back of his mind of the time being though. "Nah, have the day off since I'm working the holiday." He answered before kick starting the motorcycle, glancing over his shoulder to make sure Mona was ready to go before pulling out of the parking lot and heading in the direction of his place.

The ride was a short one, relatively speaking, and Sky thought it would likely become a familiar one over the next months. He parked the bike in it's usual spot and shut it off, leaning against the wall of the building as he waited for Mona, the thought hitting him that he didn't have much in his apartment to eat as of right now. He decided he'd wait to see what Mona had in mind before he brought up ordering take out, she might have an entirely different activity in mind, and he wouldn't object to that either.

Having Sky pick her up at home had felt a little risky, but Mona knew that with Daddy at work and Mama doing last minute Thanksgiving dinner shopping, there'd be no way they'd run into Sky and she'd have to deal with the awkward of explaining that. She was just definitely not ready for that. "Oh, okay." She wondered if he'd offered to work the holiday, but she wasn't going to ask. "I'm off today, too," she said as she slid onto the bike behind him, holding onto him.

Mona rested her head against his back as they rode back to his place. She was surprised and disappointed that the motion was making her feel woozy. She'd really thought she was over the morning sickness, and when he pulled into his parking spot, she stayed on the bike for just a minute, willing her stomach to settle. Pulling off the helmet, she slowly shifted off the bike, her hand flinging out to hold onto the seat as she got dizzy when she stood up. "Fuck," she muttered, squeezing her eyes shut.

Somehow knowing where Mona lived settled something inside of him, gave him a place to find her if she ever stopped coming to him. The thought that he would seek her out if that happened was a surprising one, though not unwanted. They were in this together, and he was determined to be there for her, even if she tried to run. He liked the idea of the both of them being off today, not that he knew what they would do with their time, and maybe it was just the sheer fact that something inside of him felt calmer when Mona was around, less like he was pretending to be someone he wasn't. "Okay." Sky didn't think she was looking for much more of a response to her answer, and he definitely didn't dislike the feel of Mona on the back of his bike, pressed up against him. He was going to miss this when he finally broke down and bought a more 'kid friendly' vehicle, though he wasn't discarding the bike entirely.

Sky quirked an eyebrow as he leaned against the building, wondering if Mona was doing okay, she hadn't gotten off the bike yet. When she faltered he pushed off the wall and got her side in a matter of seconds. His reflexes were quick, and the wave of concern that washed over him wasn't shocking. "Mona?" His voice was quiet as he slipped an arm around her waist, steadying her. "You okay?" If the doctors had failed to mention something he thought he might have to go back there and give him his 'opinion' of their medical practice.

Mona leaned against Sky and nodded, not quite trusting herself to speak just yet. She still felt like she was going to vomit, and her head was still spinning. "Just motion sickness. Or morning sickness, or whatever." She murmured after a minute. The feeling started to pass, and she stood up a little straighter. "I'm good. Hope this shit stops soon, though. Tired of throwing up every fucking day," she muttered.

Mona pushed away from Sky, not because she didn't want to be close to him, but because it seemed stupid to just keep standing there when she felt like she could move now and there was a warm apartment waiting for them. She wasn't sure what they would do, she'd just known that she wasn't ready to go home, though she didn't really think there would be sex today. There was just something about getting a vaginal exam that completely turned one off sex for the day.

Sky tightened his hold on her slightly, relieved when she assured him that she was okay with a nod of her head. This was new to him, feeling protective over someone who wasn't family. Sure they had met when he pulled some guy off her, but that had been more about getting into a fight, and not a protective feeling towards her. "Everyday?" The question was more rhetorical. Sky wanted to be there for Mona, support her through this, as much as she would let him anyway. He wasn't there for the day to day, and part of him wanted to be, a large part of him actually. That wasn't his choice though, it was hers and he wasn't sure if she'd ever let him be a part of that portion of her life.

When she pushed away from him he had to figure that meant she was really okay. This incident was just another reminder that he needed to get an actual car, or SUV or something. Would she have had this reaction if they hadn't been on the bike? Pushing the thought of his mind, he moved towards the entrance of the apartment with her. He was entirely unsure what they'd do now that they were here, because something told him sex wouldn't be happening, and a part of him actually liked the idea of possibly getting to know Mona outside of the bedroom. "Feeling up to eating?" He asked as they slipped into the building and made their way towards the stairs.

“Yeah,” Mona answered even though she wasn’t sure he’d really been asking. “Fucking exhausting,” she muttered. She just really hoped that with the end of her first trimester, the morning sickness would go away. With her luck, though, it was probably pointless to hope for that. She’d heard horror stories of women who had morning sickness from start to end of their pregnancy, and it would be just her luck if that happened to her now. The thought made her queasy, and she pressed a hand to her stomach, grimacing slightly.

Mona walked with him to his apartment. She made a little humming noise as she considered his question. “Right now, not really, but feel free if you’re hungry,” she answered. She had a feeling that if she tried to eat right now, it would just come right back up. She figured she could just heat something up later if she did get hungry.

Sky wished there was something he could say or do to make this better for Mona, a part of him still felt as if she was keeping the kid because he wanted her to. Though he knew logically she wasn't, she had admitted to wanting this kid as much as he had, he wasn't forcing anything on her, this had been her decision. "Is there anything I can do?" He figured it was likely a pointless questions as there wasn't anything he could do about her morning sickness, but he could at least ask, at least remind Mona he was here and wanted to be involved.

Reaching the apartment Sky unlocked it and motioned for Mona to step inside before him. Nodding at her answer, Sky replied. "Nah, wasn't really hungry either." And he really wasn't, a now a part of him wondered what they would do now.

Mona shook her head at his question. "No, just gotta wait it out. It's supposed to ease off in the second trimester." And it would be just her luck if it didn't, but she could get through it. Hell, she'd gotten through the first trimester, and that had been fucking miserable most of the time.

Mona walked into the apartment, glancing back at him at his reply. "Okay," she said simply, moving out of the way and toeing her shoes off before heading over to the couch, sitting down and curling her legs under her. She wasn't really sure what to do now, but she would have no problem just relaxing with him. "So, what now?" she asked, her lips twitching in amusement because this really was new for them.

Sky nodded in understanding. "Okay." There really wasn't much else he could say to that, clearly Mona was the one having to deal with it and if she said there was nothing to be done, well he wasn't going to dwell on it. A part of him still wanted to know how he could be a part of this beyond going with her to her appointments and their random encounters.

He felt a bit at a loss. This was not their normal routine, and yet this was clearly how the day was going to go. Sky kicked off his own boots and dropped the keys to his bike on the table in the entry, moving into the kitchen after that. "Want something to drink?" he asked, catching her own question just after he'd spoken. What now? He didn't have any clue, though a voice in the back of his mind kept saying 'talk', which in reality they hadn't done much of. "Normal people generally talk about work and the weather as small talk, right?" He called from the kitchen, mostly joking.

"Sure," Mona answered as Sky went into the kitchen. "Just water. S'posed to be drinking it more." And she was trying so hard to do what she was supposed to with this baby. She'd even cut back to about three cigarettes a day, which was really good for her, and she hoped to quit entirely by Christmas. It was hard to imagine giving up that crutch, but she wanted this baby, she was happy about having it, so she was going to sacrifice what she wanted for him or her.

"Oh, ha ha," she muttered under her breath. Louder, she said, "Eh, normal's overrated. But if you insist - work sucks and it's chilly but probably going to get colder." When Sky came back into the room with their drinks, she took the water from him and said a quiet, "Thank you."

Sky made a mental note of that, figuring he'd try to keep bottled water around more often then. That was assuming Mona would be coming around enough to require that, he kind of hoped she would be. He wasn't going to assume anything though, life was easier if you didn't assume things. "What else are you supposed to be doing now?" He didn't know if the question was invasive or not, though as the father of Mona's baby Sky kind of thought he had a some kind of right to ask questions like that.

Fighting a smirk that wanted to appear, Sky instead quirked an eyebrow and replied. "What are the parameters for deciding 'normal' anyway?" He paused for a moment. "Work and the weather? Sounds like we're having a normal conversation right now." Sky wasn't prone to talking so much, and he just shrugged as she thanked him for the water. He kind of figured it was the least he could do, after all he was partly the reason she'd be drinking more of it in the coming months.

Mona shrugged. "Just take care of myself, I guess. Keep taking the prenatals, rest, eat right, and keep working on quitting smoking." Her doctor had been a little concerned that she'd lost a little bit of weight since getting pregnant, not because it was abnormal, but because she'd still been a little underweight to begin with. She was really hoping that with the end of her first trimester, the morning sickness would stop and she would be able to start gaining some.

"Eh, I don't know." She eyed him with some amusement when he pointed out that they were having a normal conversation now. "Prefer our normal, honestly." Why should they talk all the time when they were more comfortable just being in the quiet together? "We should probably start buying shit for the kid soon," she pointed out, the thought just occurring to her. "It's not cheap, and there's gender neutral things you can get before finding out the sex of the kid or if you don't want to know at all." And that made her wonder if he would want to know. She knew that she did. She wasn't a big fan of surprises.

Sky nodded as Mona listed off what she should be doing. "How's quitting going?" He asked, aware that it wasn't easy, though he kind of thought she'd managed to quit worse. Honestly, he didn't know what was okay for him to ask and what wasn't. After all, they weren't together so did he even have any right to be asking any of these questions, or should he be waiting for Mona to offer up information to him?

"Our normal is preferable, yes." He wasn't going to argue that statement. They both preferred quiet and talking without words, just being together. Sky chuckled softly when she pointed out they should probably start buying things for their kid. "Yeah, we probably should." Which just reminded him he needed to look into a more kid friendly vehicle as well. "I want to know." Sky clarified, he wasn't so picky as to whether it was a boy or a girl, he just wanted to know what they were expecting. "Do you want to know?" He'd accept not knowing if Mona wanted to keep it a surprise, not that he was particularly fond of surprises, but he'd deal. As he waited for her answer, he sank down onto the couch next to her.

Mona shrugged slightly at Sky's question. "Good, I guess. Down to only like three a day, which is pretty good for me. Gonna go down to two next week, I think, and quit entirely by Christmas. That's the plan, anyway." And she was kind of proud of herself that she actually had a plan, that she was doing so well with quitting as it was.

Mona had to smile when he agreed to preferring their normal, as well. This was exactly why she'd kept coming back to him in the first place. Mona was relieved when he told her he wanted to know without her having to ask, thinking that it was a step in the right direction and glad that they seemed to be on the same page with that. "Oh yeah, I want to know. I kind of hate surprises," she admitted, and after only a moment's hesitation, she shifted closer to him.

Sky couldn't explain it but he felt a sense of pride at the fact that Mona was doing so well with quitting. Did he have a right to be proud of her, and did it matter if he did or didn't? He was proud of her, though he wasn't sure she'd be at all comfortable with him saying that. "Do you plan on picking it back up after our kid is born?" Again, he wasn't sure if it was his place to ask something like that, though he couldn't lie, he would prefer her answer to be 'no'.

Their normal was comfortable, not that this wasn't, it just wasn't them. Though the logical part of him was saying they'd have to get used to talking, raising a kid together would require it. He couldn't keep himself from chuckling softly. "Think finding out that we've got a kid on the way was a surprise enough." He pointed out. As she shifted closer, he didn't hesitate to slip an arm around her shoulders. "Have you thought about which you'd prefer?" Sky was asking a lot of questions, and normally he wouldn't. But he knew if he didn't ask, he wouldn't get answers.

Mona couldn't explain the feeling that coursed through her when he said 'our kid'. Even though she knew he wanted this and that he did still want her, too, she still loved hearing it in those little ways. She tilted her head slightly as she seriously considered his question. "I don't know," she answered honestly. "Not really a good habit to begin with, especially around a baby. So, I guess I'm gonna try not to pick it back up."

Her lips twitched in amusement when he chuckled, and she smiled at his words. "Ya think?" she said dryly. It had definitely been a surprise, a good one once they'd talked about it, but still a surprise. She was a little surprised when he asked her another question, finding it interesting that he was actually taking this talking thing seriously for the moment. It was a little weird, but not uncomfortable. "Hmm, maybe a little," she admitted. How could she not think about it? "Have you?" she asked as she settled against him, enjoying the closeness even if they weren't going to be sleeping together this time.
