Looking over her shoulder as she bagged another dozen brownies - bless Lis for going back to Jones and getting another box of the big bags - she grinned faintly at Belle, who was hurriedly moving more scones onto the next table over. She handed the woman her bag with a smile and checked the lock on the cash-box with a skim of her thumb - unnecessary since she was right there, but it was habit - then pushed at her hair before taking a loaf of white bread and half a dozen scones from the next customer. Carrie motioned for Belle to lean in before the other girl scurried back up the line of tables, and murmured as she drew closer. "Can you grab me some more business cards when you get finished with those?" Nodding her thanks as Belle knelt down to grab the box of cards done up just for the event, she paused long enough to pass the younger girl the card-holder so she could refill it, continuing in the same low voice. "Good thing we have 'em; I think we've probably handed out a bajillion. You've been putting them in people's bags, right?"

Elliot grabbed her sister briefly, pressing a spontaneous kiss of affection to her temple as she passed by, and released her back into the booth with a grin, taking her spot up near Carrie.
"How are things going?" he asked in a low voice, slipping an arm lightly around her, hugging her lightly to his side. "Jones is getting a lot of good advertising, I think." He was pleased, anyway. He loved the bakery, though he knew she was working much too hard lately and he hoped they could find someone or some someones to help out there.
"They go," she answered, voice just as low as El pressed her closer. She looked up, face cheerful if a little tired, and smiled slightly, enjoying the moment of not having to do anything but just stand still. "I think I may have to call Lis and ask her to bring more plain brownies and more of the vegan baguettes -- we figured the brownies might go quickly, but weren't sure how quickly." Running a hand over her hair to smooth it, she raised an eyebrow as she watched Belle's current customer begin ordering what seemed like half the selection of vegan breads on the table. "And the success with the vegan breads was always going to be a toss-up, but I may have to call her while she's still out, and put in an order for more."
Cocking her head, she rested her temple against his arm. "Still holding up okay yourself? Do you and Ez need to step away for a bit, catch your breath?"
Elliot brushed his fingers across her cheek gently as she looked up at him. "I could have told you that the brownies would go quickly," he said teasingly. "Especially with me and Ezra manning the booth." He winked, joking. He'd only had one, and he'd paid for it. "The vegan breads, I admit to having no clue on. Still not even sure I know precisely what they are."
He kissed the top of her head gently. "I'm holding up all right. This is actually kind of fun, in a way." It reminded him of fundraisers he'd assisted with in the past. "How about you, precious? Need a break? I can spell you for a little while, let you get off your feet and take a few. I'd offer a foot rub, but I can't do that if I'm covering for you." He rubbed up to her shoulder, squeezing it gently.
She grinned, even as she gave him a bemused raise of her eyebrow. "Just didn't know how quickly," she countered, snickering under her breath, deciding to go ahead and get him back for that. "Though you're right; I'm sure only half the missing inventory were actual sales. You boys probably ate the rest." Grin turning a little bit mischievous, she batted her lashes at him. "You can be the one to tell River, though."
"I'm all right." Carrie snuggled into him just a bit, eyes sliding halfway shut in enjoyment. "Don't tempt me; my feet may very well hate me at the end of the night." But it would be worth it. So worth it. "And Lis will be here in good enough time; one of us can take a break after that, I think. Belle might need a few minutes to sit if she keeps the breakneck pace up." Though, then again, it seemed to suit her, and her teenage energy-reserves were keeping her in good spirits.
Elliot grinned. "If we did, the money is in the till," he swore, grin softening as he looked down at her. His heart was full at the sight of her bright, dancing eyes, so dark and beautiful. His heart ached slightly, and he let his eyes roam her face for a moment, filing the image away to take out some time in the future, should he need it.
He mmmm'ed softly as she snuggled into his side. "I will definitely give you one after all's said and done, though," he promised softly. "Official I owe you, all yours," he told her, dropping a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth. He glanced over at his sister and chuckled. "Yes, she is on hyperdrive, isn't she?" he said amusedly. "But I think she's doign okay. However, if her friends drop by, I'm hoping to release her for a little exploration time. I'll take over whatever she's doing at the time.
Tucking her head into the front of his shoulder, she made a soft, almost inaudible sound she couldn't quite pigeon-hole. "Dangerous promise to make, I want you to know," she murmured into his shirt, resisting the urge to slide both arms around him and lean into him for a bit. El was comfortable, she knew far too well, and she could very well lose the adrenaline rush that was keeping her going. "Was figuring I'd soak them for a while, if I didn't fall asleep first

"Mmmm. I'll follow you home and get you set before heading back myself," he said. He wanted to take care of her, and he knew she'd had an even earlier day than he had. He would make sure she was settled and content. He loved taking care of her, when she let him.
He chuckled. "I'm not sure I ever had that much energy," he said with a shake of his head. "At least not the same sort." But then, she was an outgoing, bubbly girl most of the time, and he'd been very quiet and often intense and too focused on what he was doing to have quite the same type of energy. He sort of wished he could be more like her, and Fisher, sometimes.
He tilted his head down, lips curving up. "You definitely aren't old, so none of that now," he told her lightly. "I think Star and maybe Shelby are coming. Apparently their respective parents are dating, or so I've heard in the scuttlebutt."
A hand flapping in automatic protest, even as she admitted that Lis, at least, would override her and encourage El to come with them, she felt her grin soften in appreciation. "I'd tell you I'm okay, but I kinda think you'd follow me anyway. Stubborn like that." Voice warming as she teased him, she shook her head with a tiny laugh. "Probably end up making some sort of caravan back to the store: you and Belle, me, Lis. Unless she wants to go on ahead home or something, I guess." Arm tightening around his waist as she straightened up, she curved a finger into the belt-loop on the far side of his pants and looked up as she had an idea. "Depending on how beat we all are at the end, you want to go to dinner or something? Nothing fancy, I mean, but I don't think any of us are going to want to cook after running around all day."
"Oh, god, I know, right?" Her lips quirked; she hadn't thought she was old enough to start thinking in terms of "the good old days." And if that makes me old, she smirked to herself, then what does that

He smiled faintly when she didn't outright argue with him. It made him feel good that perhaps she wouldn't just send him on his way without letting him love on her for a little bit. "I am, yes, especially when it comes to taking care of my precious," he murmured. "'s very important to me to do so." He couldn't deny that he liked the little things, like how her fingers sometimes hooked into his belt loops. It made him feel like he was hers. "I think that would be great. Maybe grab some take away and head to your place for a bit. Eat and sit around for a few
