The anticipation was huge. At least for him it was. He'd been sitting on his thoughts about the latest Fantastic Four comic for a little bit. He wanted to see if Hickman would really go there and from all the hype, it seemed like he had. He was actually running a kind of pool with some of the regulars to see which one Hickman had decided to kill off. And the rumors were that this time, like with Cap in the Civil War story arch, Marvel had decided to permanently kill off one of the members. The winner of the pool got some classy little Fantastic Four promo comics he'd found on a shelf while doing last week's inventory, as well as a picture that Jay would put up on the website (which reminded him to touch base with Aaron last this week).

He'd also have to call Marie because the latest American Vampire dropped tomorrow and he knew she'd be thrilled about that.

He was staring down at the clock waiting. Waiting for the time to unlock the doors. The comics were all in their box on his side of the counter. And along with the huge NO SPOILERS sign he had posted, it gave him a little more control over the news getting out. When stuff like this dropped, that kind of control was crucial so that the initial rush of people coming into the shop didn't trash the store. And to read the comic, they first had to purchase it (it was polybagged to prevent spoilers being leaked) and then either sit quietly in the reading room to read or walk quietly down to the corner of the street. There'd be no Snape kills Dumbledore kind of outbursts if he could help it.

Most of the regulars he had were pretty good about not accidentally spoilering huge stuff like this. Still better to be safe rather than sorry. He frowned at his pendulum clock, time simply wasn't moving fast enough.

Days like today were what every geek shop owner lived for. Not just because business would be great, but because of the looks on all the excited fans' faces as they came in, both gleeful and apprehensive all at the same time and eager just to see what happens next. And because it was a death comic, the reading room was also amply stocked with tissue boxes.

And then finally, he thought to himself as he checked the clock again. Now it was time to open. He unlocked the door and then headed around the counter to start welcoming people in.
