Lupe was going to have to treat Rico to lunch later or something for making him fold his legs up in the front seat of her car as they drove around. His mustang had a little more leg room than her car, and he was always behind the wheel. But with Sally in the shop because of what those pendejos at work had done to it, Lupe had been driving all week. She hardly minded that she was driving for once, but she suspected Rico did. Because of the circumstances if nothing else.
She was glad he'd agreed to accompany her to this part of town to ask some questions and see if they could track down their informant. The department didn't allow many resources for this sort of thing so it was technically a side mission. But perhaps it would distract him as well, getting out of the station. And as much as it pained her to admit, he was still a little better at getting information from people.
"How's my driving?" Lupe drolled as she pulled onto a side street, keeping half an eye out for likely places to park and walk around. The neighborhood was sleazy, but it was one Baxter had used to haunt, and she was hardly a stranger to it now she worked in Vice.
