The weather was perfect for being outdoors. Darcy was relieved, since she’d been worried that some freak thunderstorm might hit overnight. She had been looking forward to today, which was a source of amusement for Dalton. Not that she really cared if he made fun of her. She was looking forward to spending more than a few minutes with Luke, and for it to not be work related or charity related. Well, it was technically charity related since it was their date or whatever he felt comfortable calling it, but they’d be able to actually have a real conversation and get to know each other.
While she was attracted to him, she had eyes after all and he was quite good-looking and totally unaware of his appeal, she also liked him from what little time they’d spent together. He might be nothing more than a new friend, one who was totally adorable with the most amazing dimples ever, but she thought it would be stupid to just assume that’s all it might be. He might not be interested in a real date, which was cool, but Darcy wasn’t going to sit around and wait to find out. She’d see how today went and, if she still felt the whole ‘wanting to lick his dimples and kiss him until they practically passed out’ vibe, she’d ask him out, for real.
Since they were going to the fair, she was wearing comfy shoes along with her jeans and pink tank. It would probably be warm, but she’d stolen one of Dalton’s white button-up shirts to wear as an overshirt, just in case. She could always take it off if the weather was too warm. She left her hair loose, but she’d stuck an elastic band in her pocket so she could pull her hair back later if she wanted. She was looking forward to trying all the latest horrible sounding fried foods the fair was offering this year, and she loved hitting the arcade and checking out the various exhibits. Hopefully Luke wouldn’t mind spending most of the day exploring. She’d buy him dinner on the way back to Fort Worth if she overwhelmed him too much.
When she reached the address he’d given her, she slowed Cherry down and parked by the curb. She considered honking for him, but he’d won her as the date, so she figured it would be classier to go to the door. After all, who knew what he’d ended up spending, and she wanted him to have a good time today so he didn’t regret the impulse buy. Darcy got out and walked up the driveway to the duplex on the right before she knocked and hoped she didn’t like wake up Isaac or something since it was pretty early on a weekend morning.
