They were barely into October and Laine was already expected to turn in student evaluations for the Level 4’s at the ballet school. She never enjoyed this part of the position; picking apart her girls technique to point out their strengths and weaknesses, and to make recommendations regarding them.
She wasn’t technically putting off the task by inviting Jenni over for dinner, she could multi-task. Probably. Even if she was tempted to put it off for another night; it had just felt like forever since she’d had a chance to catch up with her friend. She knew mostly that was on her shoulders too, but somehow the summer had eaten her up and made her communication with others downright awful.
Laine was checking the chicken she’d put in the oven when she heard the intercom buzz and rushed across the room to let Jenni into the building, “Doors open, come on up.” She said into the box.
