Marie sighed as she finally pulled up to The Hawthorne, thanking whatever higher power out there that she had made it on time. When she got called in to report on an accident around 3:00pm, she had honestly thought she wasn’t going to make. It had been ages since they’d been able to meet up, so she’d been looking forward to this. Despite the fact that Ryan lived with Cody and Rori, Marie seldom ran into them when she visited. She'd seen Rori when she and Ava went to Iron Hollow, but that had to have been about a month ago and Marie preferred to not think about how silly she must have looked to barrel racer.
Even though she new it didn’t matter, she wished she’d been able to go home and change first. The Hawthorne didn’t exactly seem the place for her work attire. Oh well, she thought as she looked down at her khaki pencil skirt and white button down. As her coworkers were fond of saying, the news doesn’t give a shit about your social life. Deal with it. With a shrug of her shoulders, Marie ventured out from her car and into the crowded bar. She looked around briefly, trying to spot Cody.
