After helping Jake moving a few things around on shelves, Drew arranged his stuff for the while he was staying - hopefully not more than a few weeks. As nice as it was of Jake to offer, he didn't want to impose for too long. He wondered if Jay had passed on his information to Cameron, at least that's who he thought it was, and when the guy would call him. He wanted his own place and forward his stuff from Pittsburgh.

"Man, they're your friends so I think its safe to assume that I'll like them," he said, leaning against a nearby pillar, watching Jake fire up the grill. "And, I wouldn't expect any less of your friends, lovely women included, to be just that. Lovely." He could hear the protective streak in Jake's voice. Subtle but there.

The tone in his friend's voice should have warned him, but he was slow on the uptake and couldn't dodge the apron flying at this face. He gave it a mock distasteful look. "You have got to be kidding me," he said even as he slipped the loop of it over his head and tying off the strings at the back. He looked down and snorted. "You'll pay for this," he murmured before hearing voices coming from inside.

"Mona said she was coming by too, so do play nice, please," he said casually. He had his issues with his ex-wife, but they weren't public issues and he did support what she was trying to do with her life now, and that Star was happy with her. "Star wants her here." And to be honest, he was forced to admit he viewed Mona as family, despite it all. Family he had issues with and didn't really like half the time, but to hell with you, you supported family anyway. "Her mother Lauren will probably come too. She's been a huge help over the years." He doubted if Mona was coming that her father would, though he might. He was not going to stick his nose in that one, however. It wasn't worth it.

Jake laughed, very pleased at himself for catching Drew offguard. He smirked at Drew, keeping his attention long enough for Star to snap a picture of him with the camera and gleefully run off, thrilled to have been part of the joke. He figured Drew would get rid of it as shortly as possible, though perhaps he would be tempted once he saw some of Jake's friends--most of them were lookers, though that wasn't why they were his friends.

"Yeah, yeah, so you say now," he retorted.

Drew thought for a moment. "Jake, all I know of Mona is what went down while we were over there. Yes, I already don't like her for that alone, I'm willing to play nice for your and Star's sake. If either of you didn't want her here and she showed up, then its a different story." He smiled. "But all bets are off is she tries to pull something within my hearing." Jake wasn't the only one with a protective streak and he considered the man as family and Star as well by extension. There was so much going on there, he was willing to let his friend handle it. He'd jump in if, and only if he considered it something that had to be done.

The flash of the camera was unexpected and he thought of giving chase after the girl to obtain the camera and get rid of the evidence. But he knew there were photos of him out there in way more compromising positions and outfits, so he just gave a mock growl. He started grinning. "I'll wear it while at the grill, but with the way temperatures are climbing, this and my shirt will be gone soon." He would require some sunblock at that point, but he could probably get someone willing to help him out with that.

"So, until such time I get bored and abandon you to grill everything by yourself, I'm quite willing to run back and forth to the kitchen if you need anything." He hear more people arriving and felt the familiar flutter of slight nerves at meeting new people.

"She's getting her life together and so far she's doing pretty well," Jake said with a shrug. "I seriously doubt she's going to do anything unless someone else instigates it. She won't risk upsetting Star." Admittedly, Star adored her mother since she came back, almost as if by loving her hard enough she wouldn't go away again. He had just wanted to give Drew a heads up before he saw her. "Star wants her here."

Star laughed gleefully as she fled unfollowed. She was having fun having another man around for a bit, a friend of her father's. It was unusual these days since most of his friends were female with the main exception of Rico.

"Feel free. I'm just amused to have gotten you into it in the first place." He'd probably lose his shirt if it got too much hotter anyway. The one thing he could still take pride in was his arms, chest and abdomen.

"Probably just the pans to put the meat in when they're done. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head," he said, thinking.

Drew nodded. "I didn't think she would," he admitted, "and I don't think anybody would really start anything with her. I'm guessing not many know what really went down all that time ago and I'm not going to be the one to fill them in." It was Jake and Mona's decision how much their friends will or will not know.

Star's laughter was infectious and it made him laugh too.

"Just yell when you want me to fetch that stuff, ok? Or have the munchkin tell me if I'm not within hearing distance."

He was about to remove the apron when Star introduced her dance teacher.
