It was Abby's third day at this school, and even though she was only six years old, she could tell there were lots of things different than her school in New York, and she didn't think it was only because she was in first grade now and not kindergarten. The other kids were pretty nice so far, though she hadn't really made any friends yet.
Recess today found Abby wandering the playground. There were activities she'd always enjoyed in kindergarten, but the playground she'd had in New York was a lot different, and she didn't know all the games the kids were playing, and she didn't want to look silly, so she thought she'd just watch for now and try to see if she could figure them out a little before asking to play, too.
