Sundays at TRIBAL were always lazy. Usually they never needed more than just August and JJ in the shop, and lately August had been inviting Devri along so she wasn’t by herself at the house.
August had cranked the stereo up while he bummed around the shop, restocking supplies and making sure that everything was presentable. Not really his responsibility, but J.J. was trying to get paperwork on the front desk sorted out, so August was covering the rest of the list. There wasn’t much to do, actually. J.J. and Gigi had covered a lot of it the night before.
Every so often he’d stop his progress to read over Devri’s shoulder, commenting on what she was reading. It was Austen, Mansfield Park. Not his first choice in literature, but Devri seemed to be enjoying it.
August wasn’t surprised when he glanced up at the front desk to find J.J. tapping a message away on his phone instead of sorting the paperwork.
“Tell Erica ‘hi’!” August called across the shop, giving his roommate a smirk.
