RP: Customer Service at its most awkward

Max had bullied Jay off to rest, since he was having a bad day. Really, still was down about his supposed girlfriend puling a vanishing act on him. Which sucked, because a happy Jay was much more fun to be around than the guy who looked like someone had killed his dog.
So Max was at the counter, reading a Doctor Who paperback he'd bought recently, keeping an eye on the gaming room but mostly just running the register if needed. He'd seen a lot of kids since summer was still out, and wondered where their parents were. Course, he'd run around at their age, which just went to show you how old he was, if he'd side more with the parents than the kids these days. But since Ruth had Marianne, he'd had a lot to get used to. Fortunately he'd make himself useful in ways that didn't involve the baby.
