The morning had started well, Layla had woken her up with breakfast that Charisma had to have helped make, but the thought was appreciated nonetheless. She'd taken her time before getting up, sipping coffee in bed and relaxing. There was actually a fair bit of things to do, since she'd decided on having a barbecue and invited basically anyone who had stayed still long enough to ask. If they had asked to bring something, she'd told them dessert or a salad, something small; presents not necessary. And so sue her, she was excited. Even with the thought that she had to go to New York in a couple of weeks couldn't bring her down for long.
She'd finally rolled out of bed and had started getting ready, grinning at the sunshine as she worked. With the three of them working, the work had gone quickly, and they'd taken a minute to relax. Layla had given Maureen her present before people started arriving, a gorgeous amethyst anklet. And then people had started showing up and she was enjoying herself playing hostess.
