RP: Why Did She Care?

She was never going to remember all of this. There were too many dates, too many events, too many faceless people who lived hundreds of years ago. What was worse was that she'd let it eat at her until her stomach hurt and she'd had trouble eating all weekend--even though she'd squirmed out of Gram's Saturday dinner plans and went for sushi. How stupid was it that this school thing had her not wanting sushi?
Groaning, she slammed her textbook shut so hard that it echoed through the mostly-empty section of the library where she'd camped out. Astrid glanced up, half expecting to see one of the library people hovering over and telling her she needed to get out, but there was no one. There was never anyone. In California she'd been able to surround herself with people every hour of every day if she wanted, but here it was class and Gram and people who gave her strange looks rather than flocked around her.
Even Mom and Dad seemed to have forgotten her. Not that that was unusual.
Astrid sighed and opened the book again, skimming down to find her place. Maybe if she read it five hundred more times, it would sink in. God, she was going to need some serious coffee to keep at this much longer.
