River rarely frequented bars. Bars meant paying for liquor. If there was code of conduct River held true to it was his firm belief that you shouldn't have to pay for your vices. Typically he'd only ever bum alcohol off his friends but...honestly, he had none in Texas. In fact, the only real substantial person he knew by name and face so far was Alex, the owner of this particular bar, and even then it was on an acquaintance level. An acquaintance level based on what he'd like to call je bande pour toi.

On this late Friday night Angel Abby seemed to be quite lively. A pang of that was a mixture of both envy and excitement boiled in his chest as he looked around the restaurant. He really liked this place. Almost reminded him of a few of the more fun joints he'd partook in back in NYC but somehow infinitely less stuffy. River took a quick glance around the place as if he might see someone familiar before he walked up to the bar. Minds well pay for a drink seeing as he was somewhat respectable these days.

"Hello," he greeted the woman to his right cheerfully and leaned in on the bar-top to get one of the bartenders' attention.

Alex noticed a new face in the crowd at the bar, a rather good looking face that he was sure he'd seen before. After the gaffe earlier with his neighbor, he was trying a bit harder to get it right. He thought he'd seen him before. He stared a bit for a moment, then it came to him. He'd been at that new bakery that was opening next month. What was the name? River?

"Hey, can I get you something?" He moved to stand in front of the man, smiling at him.

River grinned when he caught sight of Alex, finally. "Hello," he greeted cheerfully, resting his elbows on the bar-top. "I'd like a white Russian if you don't mind." He was actually surprised to see Alex be the one serving him but, from the brief impression he'd gotten of Alex, River could see him as the type of person who liked to be in the middle of everything, especially at his own restaurant.

Alex laughed. "Having a Dude kind of evening, eh?" He pulled the ingredients from the fridge down below. "How's your place shaping up? About ready to open?"

"All day, everyday," River sing-songed as he watched Alex work on making the drink. "'Bout ready yeah. Trying to get some employees now. Pretty much handled everything else correctly but somehow neglected to remember I'd need help running the place." He shrugged at his own air-head antics before gesturing around the restaurant. "Place is busy tonight, you must be happy." He grinned.

"The Dude abides." Alex intoned, sliding the glass over to him. "Employees would be good, yeah. Not everyone is as awesome as me at being everywhere at once." He winked. "I'm sure you'll find some decent help before too much longer. You still have a week or so, yeah?"

"Yeah, tonight's been a good night." Alex leaned on the bar, surveying the room with pride. "Got a line on a new web and graphics guy, a prospective employee, and a date for after we close." He grinned broadly. "Yes, happy is definitely the word for it."

"Well, I can't exactly be everywhere at once if there's a chance of setting a batch of muffins on fire," River retorted dryly. "And yeah, I've got two people lined up to hire. And about two weeks exactly."

"'Ah, lives of men! When prosperous they glitter like a fair picture,'" River quoted happily with a wink, raising his glass in toast to Alex before taking a sip. "A date, huh? Please, I don't mind hearing all about this date of yours."

"Aww, you calling me pretty?" He batted his lashes at him. "Well, to good hires!" He raised his bottle of water in return salute.

"Well, date might be stretching it." Alex hedged, glancing over to where Odessa was sitting. "More like mutual 'backscratching'. She doesn't mind waiting til after we close so...' He trailed off, smiling.

"Oh, most definitely, you're very pretty Alex" River agreed with exaggerated enthusiasm, chuckling. He raised his glass in return, repeating Alex's toast. "Sure looks like they'll be great help."

River's eyes followed Alex's where he spotted the particular lady Alex was referring to. "Definitely prosperous," he said as he looked back to Alex with a grin. "She's gorgeous. Nice lady like that it's hard to see what she'd want from you," he teased.

Alex blew some kisses River's way. "Love you too baby. Can't wait till I can come by and monopolize your place of business." He grinned.

"Fantastic legs." Alex said, smile lingering. "Well, I like to think I can offer a good time." He smirked. "I'll make sure I get an endorsing statement for you."

River narrowed his eyes at Alex. "You're only after my baked goods," he mock-accused with a smirk.

"I'll take your word for it," River laughed, taking another sip of his drink. He laughed again. "I can just imagine it. 'Hey, babe, there's this hot baker you should also check out when you've got the time.'"

"Aww. I'd take more than your baked goods, baby." Alex puckered up.

"Sure. Be happy to pass your number if you want." Alex said honestly. "Though she might prefer you to me. Not sure my ego could take it."

"Oh please, vous me faire cornée comme l'enfer," River whined and then finished his drink, sitting it on the bar. "You're tempting the beast here. I haven't seen action for almost a month since I've been here."

River shook his head and held up a hand. "Thanks but I'm alright," he smiled and shrugged. "Honestly, I haven't seen a vagina in so long I'm not sure I'd know what to do with it."

"Je vas te faire encule tout moment," Alex replie without pausing. "And why not? Plenty of ass to be had in this area, so long as you don't ask the wrong way. Refill?"

Alex laughed. "Oh, sweetie, it's really not as different as all that. And when you find a good one, a really adventuresome one, then all you have to do is lay back and enjoy the ride." He thought about when he'd bragged to Tyler bout the strap-on happy chick he'd slept with. River might enjoy that sometime.

"En avant, Simone, c'est moi qui ramone!" River bemoaned before realizing that was pure slang that he'd picked up in kitchens in Paris. "I haven't really had the time to look. I've only met you and my employees," he pulled a face at that. "As adorable as they both are, they're too young and I'd like to not complicate things this early on with my dick." He shook his head at the refill, reaching back to pull out his wallet.

River laughed at Alex's words. "That is basically every Parisian women I ever fucked described in one sentence, sans déconner," he replied as he dropped a few bills on the counter.

Alex raised a brow, unsure what River meant, but left it well enough alone. "Good idea. Fortunately, my best friend works some bartending shifts here and I can count on him to keep me from chasing tail in my own back yard." The fact that Tyler kept him honest by fucking his brains out on occasion didn't bear sharing.

Alex made change for him, laughing back. "Well, anytime you're looking to experiment with lady parts again, let me know. I know a few who have no problem being the meat in a sandwich." Alex gave a lewd grin at that. "And I'll be starting some themed nights in the future, so you might have the chance to find true love or a hook up, whichever you're looking for."
