Marie wasn't one who usually frequented bars or pubs. She'd rather just sit at home, curled up on her couch with a book. However, this was going to be her last Friday night of freedom and she had heard good things about Angel Abbey so she decided to at least check out the bar. Besides, after unpacking and getting her pointe shoes repaired she felt that she had more than earned the right to eat out and have a drink.

It was a nice place, Marie thought after being seated at one of the high cocktail tables in the middle of the packed restaurant.

Alex was starting to spell his staff their breaks, which they appreciated because as the fill-in, he didn't get their tips, but could give them a respite. One of the tables was newly occupied, by a very fetching redhead. he made his way over with a menu and a smile.

"Good evening, and welcome to Angel Abbey. I'm Alex, and I'm giving your server a break, but they'll be back to you in a little bit. In the meantime, can I get you something to drink? An appetizer?"

Marie wondered if this Alex person was the owner or something, since he had said that he was the one giving the break to the waiter. He looked a little young to be the owner, but then again Marie thought, he looked about the same age as River and he owned a bakery.

"I'll take a Shiner Hefeweizen, if you have it, please," Marie responded with a smile. She really hoped they had it, it was her favorite.

"Certainly. Can I see some ID?" He said, still smiling. He hoped she wasn't carrying a fake. It would put a damper on things to have to deal with someone underage. He'd done it before, but it definitely wasn't in his list of things he enjoyed about the job. And she really looked younger than 21. But then, he was getting old, so maybe he'd lost his perspective.

It was a first. Rivkah had never before been stood up by a blind date. Furious, tired from a long day at work, but already dressed up, she decided to make the best of it. She was too embarrassed to eat dinner in the bar she had waited in for the better part of an hour.

Instead, she headed down the street and stopped in at the first likely looking place. Angel Abbey had a nice ring to it and looked pleasent enough. She would just get a drink at the bar and peruse the menu to see if there was anything worth splurgingon, she decided.

She sidled up to the bar.

Alex tapped his lead bartender on the shoulder, giving permission to take a break, and took over filling orders for those whose faces filled the space in front of him.

One woman, very smartly dressed, but with a less than happy expression on her face was looking at the drink menu when he moved over to her.

"Let me guess. Vodka cranberry?" He wasn't any good at guessing, but at the very least it started a conversation while he took whatever they ended up ordering.

"Actually, I'd like a Jack and Coke." She attempted a smile. "I try not to drink anything in the pink family."

Alex laughed. "Never thought about it like that. Fair enough. One Jack and Coke coming up." He fixed the drink a bit stronger than otherwise and slid it over. "So, not a fan of pink drinks, eh? Personally, I avoid the blue ones. Never a good thing to look frostbitten, especially if you're on a date." He wondered if she'd open up or if she wanted to be left alone.

Maureen sighed as the cab pulled away. She had promised her sister that she would go out more in the new year. When Charisma had called that afternoon, asking what her plans were for her last Friday night before school started, Maureen had had to come up with something. Then she felt bad for lying to her little sister and had turned to Google, hoping that a place would catch her eye.

Angel Abbey looked promising, if she could just get herself to walk through the doors. Taking a deep breath, Maureen closed her eyes, gathered her courage, and pushed open the door.

Opening her eyes, she looked around. It was... pleasant, she decided with a nod. She could see herself coming here more in the future if the menu held up to the decor. The diner was lovely and had a fantastic selection, but the atmosphere was still a diner.

A hostess approached her and Maureen quickly asked for a table, noticing there were several high tables in the middle overseeing the rest of restaurant.

Alex was spelling another member of the waitstaff when another new customer was seated in the section he was taking care of. She was older than him, and had a slightly nervous air about her. Walking over he gave her a professional smile. "Good evening and welcome to Angel Abbey. I'm Alex, and I'll be getting you started while your server is on break. Can I interest you in a drink?"

Maureen gave Alex a small smile, dropping the hand that had been playing nervously with her locket down to rest on the table. "Thank you, I'd love one. Can you tell me about the house white?"

Alex noted the movement to the locket, a nervous fidget he'd seen very often. Tamping down on his tendency to flirt outrageously, he said, "We have a very nice pinot grigio that is a lovely complement to most of our lighter dishes. Were you hungry for anything in particular? I try to recommend based on meals so there's not any sensory dissonance for you." He said with a smile.

Adam had spelled her for the evening because of her taking Ethan earlier in the week, so she'd decided to go home and get dressed up and hit the new gastropub she'd heard about.

She walked in and smiled to herself. She liked the feel of the place. She waited to be seated.

Alex saw that the hostess was busy for a moment and ducked out from behind the bar to greet the latest customer.

"Good evening and welcome to Angel Abbey." He said with a smile, flicking a glance up and down. She carried herself with confidence, this one. "Party of...?" He trails off, hoping she fills in the blank with the kind of answer that proves very encouraging to him.

"Oh it's just me tonight." Dess flashed him a charming smile as she looked him up and down. He looked like he'd be fun. "Got curious and wanted to check this place out."

Alex caught the look, and felt the anticipation of an evening's 'dance' start. "Table for one it is. Though clearly someone's missing out." He flirted as he led her to a table in the area he'd be spelling shortly. "Well, you know what they say. Curiosity and all. Hopefully the information you get tonight will revive you." He winked. "Can I get you something to drink to start?"

Aaron hadn't been out in a few weeks. His last two weekends had been spent almost entirely at home, which felt weird, but he'd at least been somewhat productive. This weekend, he was way too restless to stay in. He actually kind of felt like dancing, but the night was young and he could always hit some clubs later. His lunch with Ty on Wednesday had put Alex's place in his mind, and he liked the atmosphere.

When he went inside, he unzipped his leather jacket and made his way over to the bar. He'd texted a few buddies to see if they wanted to come out and they'd said they might show up sometime later, but for now he was cool on his own. For sure there were plenty of people out tonight.

Alex came out of the kitchen with a fresh tray of glasses for the bar. While he was stacking them, he saw a guy towards the end that looked familiar. He finished getting the bar area in front of him situated and walked down, wiping his hands on a towel.

"Hey, man, how's it going?" Alex had placed him as being another tenant. He held out a hand to shake. "Um, Adam right?"

Aaron'd been just about to signal one of the bartenders when Alex came over. He nodded toward him and smiled. "Alex, hey. I'm good, how've you been?"

He raised a brow as he took Alex's hand and shook it. They lived in the same building and chatted casually sometimes - he definitely knew Alex's name. "Aaron," he said good-naturedly, his smile widening slowly. "You're one of those people who's not great with names, huh?"

Alex winced. Crap. "Sorry. I wish I had a good excuse, but really, when I'm in work mode, I lose names like my brain is a sieve. Comes from not having to remember people for more than an hour or two at a stretch."

Damn, that was embarrassing. And clearly an area of weakness he'd have to get under control. He hadn't called a wrong name in the bedroom, but then, he rarely used names in the bedroom, just generic endearments. But he best not have any slips with customers. "I owe you a drink for that. What'll you have?"
