It had been a busy day, although Cale was feeling rather accomplished as he stepped through the door of the Hawthorne. He hadn't felt like cooking - especially not for just himself, as his Uncle was out of town for the week - so he'd given in to the temptation to stop out somewhere interesting. And this place had certainly fit the bill when he'd driven past it a time or two in the past few weeks.

It was quiet inside, which was fine by him, and he passed up a table in favor of finding an empty seat at the bar, sliding in and making himself comfortable as he eyed the special bored thoughtfully, debating what he wanted.

Brendon wandered over and gave him a grin. "Good afternoon - what can I get you?" He sat down a bar napkin and leaned on the bar.

Cale glanced up with a smile as the bartender wandered over to him and leaned back on his stool. "I'll take whatever's on draft, if it's any good," he replied, his arms resting on the edge of the bar. "And one of those Monte Cristo sandwiches if the kitchen's open at the moment? I'm currently avoiding my own for the evening," he added with a chuckle, his lips quirking faintly.

Brendon smiled and nodded his head. "You got it," he said as he made up the man's drink for him then sat it down on the bar napkin. Oh he could certainly understand the idea of avoiding his own kitchen - he's done that more times than he could count. Chuckling, he wrote down the order. "Fries okay with that or would you prefer chips?"

"Thanks," Cale spoke when the bartender passed him his drink, taking a sip as he idly watched the man write down his order. "Fries would be perfect, thanks. Might as well go all out."

"Oh indeed," he responded with a chuckle then passed the order off to the kitchens. "Guessing it's been a long day?"

"A busy one, at least," Cale answered with an easy smile, relaxing comfortably as he lounged against the bar. "I'm still recovering from a long week that seems to have somehow carried into this one."

Brendon chuckled. "I can understand that one." Good lord could he? "Busy good or busy bad?" He asked with a grin, taking a drink from his water.

Cale shot the bartender a crooked grin. "How 'bout I let you know when I figure it out?" he chuckled, taking another sip of his beer before shaking his head in amusement. "No, it's been good for the most part. Just some extra work dropped unexpectedly on my lap that left me scrambling a bit. The hazards of juggling employee schedules when emergencies pop up."

Brendon responded with crooked grin in return then chuckled. "Fair enough." He nodded as Cale talked, understanding the general idea of that himself. "Oh, yes - those are especially fun to figure out. At least it's been good though for the most part, yeah?" He took out a glass and poured an older gentleman a pint before returning to the conversation.

"Absolutely," Cale answered, watching the man work with a faint smile as he sipped his beer. When he finished with the older gentleman and returned, Cale held his hand out with a grin. "Cale Bright. I take it this is your place?" he asked curiously as he introduced himself.

Brendon the man's hand and grinned. "Brendon, but most just call me Fitz or Fitzgerald around here," he said then nodded. "It is, yeah. Inherited it from old man Hawthorne."
