Ever feel like that? They say in the future (what a phrase) there will be a drug (actually, I think it might already exist) which allows you to get only 3-4 hours of sleep and be fully refreshed like you had gotten a full night's sleep. And even, eventually, we may not even have to sleep at all. Most people find that horrifying. The death of dreaming. The death of that kind of rest for the mind. I kind of agree, but I'm a Luddite sometimes. Anyway, they say it's inevitable. Sleep is a cousin of death, as Nas said.
A person recently confided in me something deeply personal. It felt good to be turned to like that. And it felt good to actually be there for them.
Couple of things on my plate:
I'm working on videos for the National Initiative for Democracy, and I'm being a consultant for the redesign of their website. Eventually, I'll get more involved/active on that front.
I'm working on a sort of anarchist blog collective that will house topics including anarchism, socialism, feminism, environmentalism, activism, direct democracy, anti-corporatism, direct action, atheism, subvertising... basically anything along those lines. Should be pretty cool. I'll post a link when it's up and running. May even scout some potential guest writers here on LJ. I know there are some pretty cool communities to be found on here, too.
Still adding little bits and pieces to my book. I'm fucking pissed at myself that I haven't closed the book (if you'll pardon the pun) on this yet. It's just that I'm reading a book by Albert Schweitzer (
who lived in this awesome house) who pretty much (incidentally) wrote about what I wrote about almost 90 years before me. The book is called The Philosophy of Civilization. "Holy fuck, could there be a heftier topic?" is probably what you're thinking. Or probably not. I'm terrible at judging what people are thinking sometimes. Anyway, he basically pwns all previous philosophers and tells them why their philosophies completely fail at providing an adequate moral foundation. I don't think he went far enough, though, and my book takes it to the next level. Plus, he didn't sew it all together like I do.
Yeah, so that's what's going on journal, if you care.
I'm being made a part time supervisor at my job, so I'm getting a pay increase, which is cool. And it looks as if health care reform will take place by the end of the summer, so that will be good for all of us!
Au revoir and happy belated Easter!
