Rikku sat nervously, waiting for everyone to arrive. She hadn't managed much sleep the night before, but the warm-fuzzy-Jude-kitten in her lap was helping. A lot.
Once everyone got settled, Rikku took a deep breath and started talking.
"The sketch is great. But like I said, this is the first time I've tried to work off a sketch," Isabel reminded her. "But between the sketch, the sword, the symbol, and the wackiness that is Fandom, I'm hoping I'll be able to find him. And if not? Well, we'll all have a little bit of a nap."
"We take a nap?" Rikku adjusted the kitty in her lap and was listening intently. "What if people can't fall asleep?"
She considered. "I'm sorry we don't have a better picture. I'm not sure what the symbol is, but he wore it a lot, so it has to mean something to him. The sword ... my Godhand, it's like, I hold it and feel like it was supposed to come to me. If it's like that for him, that's a good thing, right?"
Being responsible. Right. "Is it ... the dreamwalking. Is it dangerous? For you, or for us?"
"I'm thinking positive," she replied. "With all of this, we will find him. And it's not dangerous, not all. Our bodies stay here. Mentally? We just take a little trip. Usually it's just into the person's subconscious. But since he is a dream? I'm not sure how that'll work."
"Okay. We find him. He's ... he's out there. He has to be. People don't just fade out and stop existing, that's not fair. They wouldn't do that to him, not after he saved them. Right? Right." She nodded, hoping she sounded convinced.
"The subconscious? That's gonna be interesting. I wonder ... if he's a dream, does that mean he's in someone else's subconscious? 'Cause that's just kind of weird to think about."
Rikku nodded. "I ... I'm not letting myself believe just yet. Okay, that's totally not true, 'cause it's all I can think about. That, and seeing Yunie's face when ..." She shook her head. "I can't imagine. Him really just ... being back again." And she shivered, snuggling the Judekitty closer. "It's ... it's incredible, you know!??"
Rikku smiled wistfully. "She'll ... they were really something. She'd look over at him and be okay again, you know? It was ... just watching it made me think things would turn out all right, because they'd protect each other. You know?"
Rikku nodded. "He and I, we were gonna save her. Everyone else was just going along with it, but we weren't gonna let anything happen to her. The three of us..."
She shook her head. "Max and Michael ... they're ... not here?" she asked tentatively, not wanting to pry if this was bad. Which ... it probably was.
"They're still on Antar," she said quietly. "Due to a weird fall back through time thing, technically, I'm still with them. That's why the wait till August."
"Actually I'm in my own past," Isabel explained. "I left here March 5th or so and spent six months there, then there was a hiccup or something and I fell through a rift in time and space. After a stop in Cardiff I came back here about six days after I left."
Rikku blinked. "Hang on, whoa. So you're ... two places at once? That's just ... you're still back there, or ..." She cocked her head. "I don't understand time stuff. That's just weird."
"I'm here and I'm there," she said. "And it is weird, so I try not to think about it too much. All I know is that in August the time lines will sync back up and I can contact them without the world imploding."
