Rikku was bouncing on her toes, and singing little snippets of Christmas carols. Only bits, because really, she didn't know most of the words. But hey! The bits she did know were pretty snifty.

She was also packing. Packing, woohoo! She'd be back in time for this whole New Year's thing, and - whoa, she'd been at Fandom almost a whole year.

Luke had spent most of the afternoon with a tool chest putting his hand back together.

He needed something to make him laugh before his father lectured him all the way to Connecticut.

Thus, popping his head into Rikku's room. "Hi!"

"Heya!" Rikku waved cheerily to Luke. "What's up? How are you? What are you doing for break? Ooooh, should I have gotten people gifts for this whole Christmas-thing? I was just gonna snag stuff when I go home but that's kinda after Christmas, isn't it? Hey! Did I tell you I'm going home?!??"

Rikku: more hyper than usual.

Luke burst out laughing. "Did you get into the Jolt again?"

Rikku giggled, bouncing on her toes. "No! Honest! But they found the Omega Dungeons, or they think they did, and I get to go home and spend break beating up fiends and stealing all their crap, can you believe it? And how are you!? And do you wanna come 'cause I'm bringing people and it's gonna be a blast and oh, wow, I do sound like I've had Jolt, don't I?"

She grinned. "Man. If I had Jolt on top of this, I could probably actually warp through time."

"It sounds really, really tempting right now," Luke admitted. "I'm pretty sure my father's gonna yell all the way to Rory's house. Possibly back, too."

"Ugh." Rikku wrinkled her nose. "Seriously, if you want to bail on that, you could totally come along instead. Gonna kill some fiends, steal some goodies, sell back all the weapons we find, end up with some fat cash. It's like a supply run, except I get to beat the crap out of monsters, which is way more fun." She grinned. "How come your dad's gonna yell? I mean, holidays, this is a big thing on this world, isn't it? Good times and trees and presents?"

"I might've visited Angelus today," Luke told his feet. "I just wanted to see that he was being treated all right!" he added defensively.

"The crazy vampire guy?" Rikku raised an eyebrow. "He's ... locked up now, right? You weren't going to stick your hand through the cage or anything?"

"Not my real hand!" Luke retorted.

Which...kinda answered that question.

Rikku's eyes widened. "Okay. I ... was ... kidding? That's ... whoa. Okay. Are you okay? That's ... dude."

"It was totally stupid," Luke said sulkily, "and I spent the afternoon unsquishing the wires and my father's gonna yell and I won't do it again and can we please change the subject?"

"Um ... okay," Rikku said. "Wow. Yeah. I'm glad your ... hand is ... better?"

"I just got too close to the bars and didn't bring a rock with me," Luke grumbled. "Last time I was in a prison I had a rock."

"I'm glad they're not giving prisoners rocks," Rikku nodded. "See, you should've remembered that psychic-Force thing and lifted one up from outside and levitated it in to slam around."

"I gave him a Force-slap to the head instead," Luke said, looking a little pleased with himself.

Rikku grinned. "Nice! Did he growl and get all grumpy at you?"
