Saturday Night, Room 308

Dec 22, 2007 21:51

Rikku was bouncing on her toes, and singing little snippets of Christmas carols. Only bits, because really, she didn't know most of the words. But hey! The bits she did know were pretty snifty.

She was also packing. Packing, woohoo! She'd be back in time for this whole New Year's thing, and - whoa, she'd been at Fandom almost a whole year. ( Read more... )

"Boy, someone's in a good mood," Sokka said as he peered in. "All excited about this Christmas thing? -- AWWWWW, you're PACKING. Is EVERYONE going home this week? I'm gonna be the only one left here, aren't I?"

"Hiya!" Rikku bounced, waving. "You bet! Uh. Not about the Christmas thing? I'm still kinda fuzzy on what that is and all. But I'm going home and I can't wait. Are you staying here for break? Fa-la-la-la-la, I'm-go-ing-home!"

"Uh, okay, yeah. I'm staying here and having a grand old time with me and Katara and an empty dormitory. And you're... WAAAAY too happy. I mean, I like my dad, and I miss him, but... You should NOT be this excited about going home."

"It's not my dad," Rikku said, rolling her eyes. "I'm only gonna see Pops on the airship out there. We found the Omega Ruins. We think. We-the-Al-Bhed, naturally, 'cause we are awesome and I bet Omega's still out there and can you believe it?! I can't. This is gonna be unbelievable."

"You're this excited about some old ruins?" Sokka asked. "Have you hit your head or something?" He waved a dismissive hand. "I mean, I've seen plenty of ruins, and really, they just don't live up to the hype."

The eye-rolling that got was epic. "Nooooo. It's not the ruins. It's the 700-year-old crazy dead guy who was getting together some kinda army out there in the ruins, and all the crazy fiends swarming all over it. That's the fun part."

"A crazy dead guy and his army of fiends????" Sokka stared at her. "How is THAT fun?"

His brain tried to catch up with his mouth, but that darn mouth was still running away.

"I mean, one at a time, it WOULD be pretty fun to take 'em down, but armies are just all kinds of bad, especially when they're not on your side..."

Rikku folded her arms. "Because my friends and I are going to march in there, steal their stuff, beat them up, and keep all the goodies. They can't be any tougher than the fiends that were hiding inside of Sin. Those were pretty old, too. Omega himself, he'd be vicious, but ... he may not be there. Can you imagine, if he is?" This caused more bouncing.

Sokka was suddenly intrigued. Note the intrigued face.

"Steal... what kind of stuff?"

"You know." Rikku shrugged, resuming her packing. "Shining Gems. Fire Gems. Farplane Shadows. Hypello Potions. Musk. Stuff that explodes, stuff that gives you neat weapon-effects, stuff that makes good armor. Goodies."

"Stuff that, say, theoretically, you could sell for lots of money?"

A sly grin was slowly spreading across Sokka's face as an idea formed.

"...Wait a minute -- MONSTERS have STUFF???"

"Of course they do," Rikku said with a laugh. "Some of it evaporates with 'em, so you have to steal it before they go, and the rest gets left behind in a pile with any of the weapons or money or the rest of it. I dunno about selling it, I'd rather hang onto them and blow things up."

"Weapons? Money? Blowing things up?" Sokka walked over to Rikku and put a hand on her shoulder. "All right, Orangey, I didn't want to, but you've talked me into it -- I'm coming. When do we leave?"

Rikku raised an eyebrow. "That's funny. I don't remember inviting you, Ponytail."

"Well, not technically, no, but it's clear that you meant to, and really, I'm honored, and you won't regret it."

"You would get your butt kicked," Rikku said. "No way. Besides, the gems and stuff are mine. That's the whole reason I'm going. Supply run, remember?"
