So....I got my HP7 last night at the rather anticlimatic Harry Potter celebration last night. I think the most excitement was Amy telling several rugrats at the restaurant we had dinner, that they were poorly behaved and asked if they were able to sit still for more than one minute. With their parental units sitting by them. Truly a classic moment. But anyway, I had my book by 12.30 (I took some pictures with my cell phone but I'm sure they're shit), read until about 2.30, and today read from 1 until 7 nearly non-stop. My back is killing me but it was worth it.
- I think this was my favorite book by far. Almost all of the questions were answered, some in a very ingenious way.
- I applaud the fact that even some of the story had been predicted months and years ago (Harry is the last horcrux, Snape was good all along, Snape was in love with Lily), I think Rowling still presented it well with some twists and turns thrown in. *Loved* the penseive scene were Harry got to see Snape's memories.
- I cried twice...when Dobby died and when Harry used the ring to see James, Lily, Sirius and Lupin. But Dobby by far made me cry the most...sheesh!
- Kreacher and the knives at the end...lol! I love house-elves!
- Ron is a git...no big surprise. Oh why couldn't have Hermione ended up with Ginny *sighOTPsigh*
- While the epilogue does tie things up nicely...upon reflection it was way too sweet. And way too predictable...I mean wouldn't have guessed that Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione would both have a bunch of spawn sent off to Hogwarts had the four of them all lived? I supposed though it's a cop-out so Rowling can write more books with the kids if she ever feels the need.
- Hermione finally really kicked ass in this book. *Finally* Really hoped she became more than a baby-making factory after the Battle of Hogwarts, but I guess that is what fan-fiction is for.
- Poor Hedwig. Poor Fred. Tonks and Lupin were sad I suppose...I guess I feel worse for the kid though (Teddy? Bleagh)
I'll read it again when my UK version arrived. For now, I can rejoin the internet without fear of spoilers and read fanfiction to my heart's content!
