I'm ba-ack! :)

The computer arrived yesterday and my mom conveniently had to come up to DC today anyway so she dropped it off. I just put it all together tonight. Spent an annoying two hours trying to connect the Internet and it turned out that my cable modem wasn't recognizing the new computer. A phone call to my provider had the problem solved in five minutes. Doh.

Anyhow, love my new computer. It's fabulously fast and powerful. Not like my poor beleaguered laptop. It's also got a whole bunch of functions that my old computer never had that I'll have to learn how to use, like burning CDs and DVDs. Yes, I know, I'm horribly behind the times. *hides* But at least I'm finally willing to learn; otherwise, it'd be a waste. I still also have to upload some more stuff onto my computer, attach some accessories, but I'm too tired to deal with it tonight. I figure I'll tackle it this weekend, and if the snowstorm they're predicting actually lands I'll have plenty of time on hand to play with my computer.

Meanwhile, I still haven't tried to get my files off my old computer. Truth be told, I'm a little scared to find out whether I can or can't. I'm also realizing it's more than my word documents and MP3s that I may be losing, I'm also having to start from scratch with my Internet bookmarks and LiveJournal icons, for example. I don't even know where to begin to find them all again. *sigh*

Oh well. Focusing on the positive things. Like my new computer. *strokes* New computer still needs a name. Not sure what to name him, but twice it's been suggested: Fast and powerful = Roarke. *waggles*
