I live in the capital city of my state-a Louisiana.
Baton Rouge.
East Baton Rouge.
Either way, you'd think that with the extra "umph" in being the second biggest city in the state, plus being the capital city would give it a little credibility, but it hasn't.
All my city have granted in the years I've lived in it is abandoned buildings, teen parents and a high death toll within specific neighborhoods.
Now, it's obvious that at least two of those things are completely unavoidable, but the high count in abandoned buildings is aggravating to the point of insanity because there's been buildings here abandoned for a few years (koffkoff The Real Superstore koffkoff) and most of these buildings are in convenient locations and are capable of being reopened for other things...such as a flip gym, a clubhouse, an extra stadium/convention center...anything.
You know what sucks, though?
Rather than improve our own city, we as the inhabitants, choose to leave this city simply because it's "too (insert excuse here)"...well, I say that with that mindset, this city is always gonna suck. I mean, I may be speaking from an Otaku's point of view, but I can see a few things being done with these buildings that will probably make a few otaku (look up the types of people that go to anime conventions) flock to just because it's within city limits.
Remember Alternate Universe?
Granted it didn't pull through, but at least it's a start in the right direction! I'm not gonna sit here and tell every Otaku to think big but I am sitting here and telling every video game programmer, music producer, contractor, service and good offer-er and more to get themselves a building, a central location and just...go nuts. If you build it, they will show up. You may not get a gaggle-a customers but word gets around and when it does...it f'n does and it helps, no matter where you are.
Baton Rouge has a lot of talented suckas in it...but laziness overrides talent and these fucks find themselves not doing anything except leaving for cities that'll spoonfeed them a career rather than have them make one from the ground up (literally) and the city continues to suck from there.
All I'm saying is, your home doesn't suck..you suck for not trying to improve it and run off to a place where shit like that is easy. Anyone can go to California and become a big name star, but it takes a better person be a star and make an agency in their own hometown so that other people can equally become great. Maybe I'm barking at a shadow but it isn't fair that my city has to suffer because no one wants to do anything except high-tail it.
In any case, places like Louisiana doesn't suck, you suck...do better. That's what I plan to do.
why louisiana sucks,
dang,
rant,
frustration,
why my city sucks?
