Danni reached the balcony and rested on the bar, letting her head drop as she took in a deep breath. She felt like she was going crazy. All this paranoia over Luke, why did she feel so scared of him destroying her life once again? As much as she knew that the city was now a different place from when the Chosen were here, she still had this

As Danni heard her name mentioned she looked to where to voice had come from, and saw Moon stood there. She almost felt that because she had wished so hard for Moon to be here then that was the reason why she had come. All the doubt about Moon's feelings for her, the worry over Luke, it began to melt a little, and the most important feeling right now was the relief of seeing Moon's face.
Danni had been about to speak, and her mouth was about to break into a smile when Moon stated that maybe she should leave Danni alone. No, that was not at all what Danni wanted. She moved across the balcony whilst Moon turned for the door, and gently caught Moon's arm before it reached the door handle.
"Don't go." She said, realising that there was probably an edge of desperation in her voice, but not caring, nothing mattered as long as Moon stayed with her. "You don't have to leave." Her voice took a more steady tone, managing to suppress some of her feelings. "I've... I've missed you... this evening." She said, suddenly feeling awkward. She didn't know if it was okay to say that, but she figured at least she was being honest, and maybe Moon could understand that, even if she didn't especially like the idea of being missed by Danni.

"Don't go."
Moon stood up a little straighter, but still she did not turn around, fearful of what she might see in Danni's face, of what she might say next. Danni had been avoiding her, that could not possibly bode well. Moon listened to the ever increasing sound of the rain as she waited to hear her fate.
"I've... I've missed you... this evening."
Surprised, Moon finally turned around. How did that make sense? People did not usually avoid those they were likely to miss. Meeting Danni's eyes, Moon could not help but feel that she could see sadness in them that Danni was trying to hide. It confused her, filled her with questions, but her lips spoke only one.
"Where were you?"

"I...." Danni faltered, she didn't know if she could make eye contact with Moon while trying to explain herself. She didn't know what she might see there, and was still scared of seeing rejection. "I needed some time... to think." Danni looked down to her hand against Moons arm. It trailed down her skin and took her hand, an attempt to reassure Moon that everything was still okay. "I was just reminded of something earlier, something a bit painful..." That part at least was true. Every time she saw Luke she felt the urge to check the scar on her head. Having Luke live in the Mall made her experiences a little too real again, and Danni really didn't know if she would ever be comfortable with him here. "I just needed to deal with it my own way." Danni said, trying to give Moon a reassuring smile.

Moon smiled softly in response, and took Danni's cold hand beween her own, rubbing it gently, coaxing warmth back into the girl's fingertips. The worries that had gnawed at her were subsiding a little now. Even though she could sense something was amiss, she reasoned that Danni wouldn't be standing here holding her hand if she didn't want to be. Relaxing a fraction, Moon looked at the balcony, and her eyes, now adjusted to the darkness, could make out the outline of the watering can which was now getting rained on.
"You were, uh, watering the plants?" said Moon, her lips curling into a little smile at the irony as she changed the subject of conversation.

"Is everything alright with you?" Danni asked, hopig to take away the focus from herself. Also, as much as she hated to admit it to herself, she wanted to know if Moon had anything to say about Luke.
