Karmically wrong? Patch had no idea what she was talking about. Supposing he was right and Tai-San had tapped into some great cosmic force...she wouldn't have meant to, and he certainly hadn't meant to imply that it had been her fault. All that came out of his mouth as she began to walk away was a stuttering blur. "Wait! I,...I didn't mean, it's not like..." Patch cast Jack a confused and slightly helpless look. What had he done wrong

Dee snapped out of her day to find Patch glancing at her as if wanting her approval. She bit her lip, slightly embarressed that she had no clue as to what they were talking about. Once Patch and Jack had gotten into their indepth conversation, her mind had started to wander - to the point where she didn't even distinctly hear her voices. She hoped Patch hadn't noticed.
Pretending that she understood, Dee half-smiled and nodded.
Jack scoffed again, "Well yeah it matters, I suppose, if, if this were about three years ago," his eyes traced the top of the table as he contemplated everything. Theories and science went hand in hand, first you had a hypothesis and then you worked to prove it, if you had access to the resources of course. "I mean, she's been gone for so long. It's like, if that is her, back here now, then why? I don't know that I believe in a higher power, but if there is one, then there would be a reason for her to come back, but I can't just believe that there was no reason either, that it was a fluke. I mean, if you knew Tai-San and Zandra, you'd know, that's the last person on earth she'd bring back," Jack was mostly mumbling to himself, finding that he was now doing the equivalent to soul searching, a rather uneasy feeling
( ... )
Patch listened in miserable disinterest as Jack continued to ramble on about what he thought about Zandra coming back. It was as if he wasn't even filtering what he was thinking, just letting it all come out a stream as if he was the only one in the room. But when Jack came to the part where he suggested that Tai-San could repeat what she'd done!...To completely recreate the incident and bring back someone else from the great beyond, Patch was so dumbstruck he couldn't even stutter properly. His mouth simply opened and closed a number of times, looking at Jack as if he'd just grown a few extra eyeballs out of no where. Even by the time the redhead mentioned going to find Anna, Patch was still a speechless mass of blank. Was Jack complementing him now?! This was just too much and it took a second for it to register that the other boy had his hand held out
( ... )
Jack eyed Patch as he stared at his hand as if it was crawling with bugs, finally realizing that he might have offended Patch in some way, trying to quickly think over what he'd said and find the bit that was wrong. Wasn't Patch a scientist like Jack? He was the doctor, surely a doctor wouldn't be afraid to talk of things, to hear someone's self doubts. Just as Jack was about to bumble out an apology and pull his hand back, Patch gave it a shake and smiled painfully. "Right, see you later, nice to see you again Dee," he added before turning and walking back to the counter

Tatty had given Anna a quick shake of his head, he didn't need Ryan, he was kind of worried about him, about what was going on. It wasn't like him to stay away, to not come and explain to them what was wrong and how it was ok. Tatty became increasingly uncomfortable as Ryan didn't appear, glancing over his shoulder once in a while to look at the girls, then back to Anna, before concentrating on his food and not thinking the thoughtsThe arrival of Jack almost gave Tatty a sense of relief, though he didn't show it, or express it. He knew how Anna felt about him, how upset she'd gotten when the brothers had accused him of being a bad guy, Tatty trusted Anna and her judgement, but he still felt kind of nervous about him. He was cheerful, that was true, and Tatty realized he was staring blankly at Jack as he talked to all of them then ate his food. The look on his face as he gave the food a good grade made Tatty's head tilt to the side a bit. Blinking slowly, his eyes moved slowly to Anna, as if to ask her if he was for real. He wasn't

Willow rolled her eyes as Anna mothered her, telling her to eat her food an Flower to stop inhaling hers. She didn't normally mind, but that mild irritation she'd felt earlier today just seemed to creep back up on her for no reason at all from time to time. Feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders, she thought about protesting that she was too tired to eat, but gave up, no one cared, Anna didn't want to hear it, she'd just lecture her. God, she sounded like Lottie and Macy, it was horrible, absolutely horrid! She wanted to leave, but she wanted to stay, she wanted to scream, and then she wanted to cry, it was all so very confusing.
Sitting up a bit, just because she wasn't rude and would still listen to Anna, Willow took tiny bites, sighing and shrugging as Jack came in and tried to make conversation. He was the last person she wanted to see, and glancing over her shoulder with a bit of a glare, she noticed that he didn't really care. He was too wrapped up in Anna, Good, I hope he takes her away! Willow stabbed the food on

Unable to answer Anna because of the rather large mouthful of dinner she'd had at the time, her little freckled cheeks sticking out like a chipmunks as she ate, chewing faster so she could swallow faster and get out of here sooner, Flower simply shrugged. It was soon that Jack had joined them, and by then she could answer, "It's good," she told him flatly, glancing around the room, trying to see if she could see Mommy. "Did you see Salene?" she asked him, peering around Willow.
Speaking of Willow, she had a sour face on, it actually turned Flower's stomach, and she gave her a strange look, "S'wrong with you?" Stupid question, Lottie, that's what was wrong. That's why Flower was eating so fast, to get to Mommy first. This thought caused her to shovel the food into her mouth again, until her cheeks poked out and she had to stop to chew.
Flower was the only one who answered him, unenthusiastically, but Jack took no offense, and shook his head, finishing the food in his mouth before answering her. "Uhm no, no sign of Salene yet, but I'm sure she'll be here soon. She likes to make sure everyone has eaten, and you know, she said she'd come tell us about Ryan and I usually believe her," he gave her a sincere smile before forking more of the very good dinner into his mouth. He'd have to make sure to compliment Alice on it, he always did enjoy what she cooked
( ... )
Tatty was distracted as Salene entered the room, looking to her over his shoulder as she swooped in on the girls, treating them the way Anna would, only, it seemed to fit Salene better. Tatty realized this was because Anna was still young, a girl, where Salene was a woman. Tatty cared for Anna, but he knew a lot of her childhood had been taken over by responsibilities that shouldn't have been, just like everyone else in the world.
Her words about Ryan made Tatty turn his head once more, staring at Salene blankly, so Ryan was too tired to put the girls to bed? That meant he wasn't coming to dinner, but that was ok, right? Tatty's eyes turned back to Anna, she wouldn't forget about him? He realized he should be old enough not to need tucking in, but after all that had happened, how could Ryan not check on all of them? It felt so, so strange

Anna was feeling a little sick from forcing herself to eat. Absently, she pushed the food around on her plate, eyes downcast. When Salene entered the extra cafe, Anna felt her eyes shift in that direction. She was slowly making her way to their tables at the back. When she announced that it was bedtime for Willow and Flower, Anna felt a stab of jealously. For so long, it'd been Anna that helped put them to bed. Usually Ryan was around too. But as Salene explained, Ryan was too tired. This worried Anna more. How could he be too tired to make sure they were all ok? Anna listened to her fork scrape across the top of the plate
( ... )
Flower watched first Salene then Willow leave before sitting up in her chair and heading over to the table where Anna was. As she stood, she felt the weight of her exhaustion on her shoulders, and in her head, it took all of her strength to drag her tired body across the room. Navigating around Jack, Flower flung her arms around Anna, hugging her awkwardly. "Salene says I have to go to bed now. Are you going to bed now?" She gazed at Tatty who looked confuddled, then to Jack before yawning, "What're you talking about anyway?"
Blatantly ignoring Lex's questions about what "was up" with her and Tai-San, Siva simply turned her head and observed the conversation happening at the next table, as if it was the most intriguing thing in the world. It was, in fact, kind of upsetting, and appalling, the way Jack was attacking Tai-San. It made Siva's nostrils flare with anger, little daggers of anger and hatred shooting from her eyes into the side of his skull. Tai-San stormed off in a bit of a huff, and Siva turned back to her food, stabbing it as she imagined it to be Jack's hand. What a mean thing to do! Even if Siva was curious about how it could have happened, she had more tact than that!
Fearing now that she'd have to answer Lex's question, Siva's eyes darted nervously to him then back to her plate to try and gauge if he was still waiting for an answer. Of course he was, blast! Luckily, at least, Siva thought so, Gel sat down and interrupted the train of thought, the conversation, by complimenting Patsy. Was that what she called a compliment? Your clothes don'

"Siva, babe wait!" Lex called after her, standing up but not following her. He'd learned not so long ago when to leave her alone, and his dark eyes flashed on Gel, "Well thanks a lot you stupid little git," he spat at her, pointing his finger in her general direction. "Don't you know anything about pregnant girls? Don't you know anything about anything other than hair doo dads and face cream? You can't talk to her like that, and you owe her an apology!"
He was seething with anger, "You think you're a flowerpot because you've got a hole in your bum, but let me tell you something. You're only a..a small, little bit of a woman compared to my Siva. And she's going to be gorgeous, fat, skinny, pregnant or not, and if you ever," he leaned in a bit as he said it, "ever again say anything like that to her again, especially while she's pregnant, I'll have your guts for garters!"
Taking his plate without losing his hard gaze on her face, Lex stood up straight and marched off, not in the mood to deal with anyone else, in the direction of the

Gel was startled by teh looks Siva was giving her, then yelled out an "Owww! You stomped my foot!" before she left. Lex started in on her and Gel just scoffed, offended by what he was saying, looking absolutely horrified and appaled. He walked off before she could even think of a good retort, and had he just threatened her?
Crossing her arms over her chest, her cheeks flared with embarassment as she sat back in the chair, staring in disbelief at the table. "Well, I just never, you try to do a nice thing and help someone and it all goes haywire! Can you believe them?" Gel looked at Patsy with flashing eyes, she was a nice girl, surely she would see that Gel was just trying to be nice.
Patsy smiled at Gel as she complimented her outfit, however awkwardly, and then blinked as Siva stormed off, Lex following.
"That was odd." Maybe Gel hadn't said exactly the right thing, but Patsy didn't think for a minute that she had meant to offend Siva. "Don't worry about it, Gel. They've both been in cross moods all evening. I wouldn't let it bother you. You were just trying to be nice."
