Sounds Quite Nice. sotto_voce February 8 2005, 02:51:05 UTC
Wow, that sounds quite nice. I've only ever been to one filk con - GaFilk. I went with telynor and had a great time. I'm glad you had a nice time at yours this past weekend.

Speaking of telynor, I really would have liked to have been at the ceremony. She is a very nice woman who shared many things with me (her music, time, tea, company, and patience only to mention a few) while in GA. I miss her.

Also, I haven't contributed my condolences over the job issue. I'm quite sorry that things had to work out that way. Good luck on your new job hunt and I'm sure something even better is up the road for you.

I comment much, but I always read. :)

...a nice closing ceremony (including a small knitted mixing desk for the GKs)

Does that really say "a small knitted mixing desk"?! How on earth can one knit a mixing desk? Enquiring minds want more details...*grin*

aunty_marion's the person you need to ask. I think the tech-desk may have been cross-stitched rather than knitted, but that's a minor detail. ;)

Actually, it was tapestry/petit-point/half cross stitch. Minor detail, indeed!

Plastic canvas is a wonderful thing for 3-D models!

It was sized to fit a pack of travel tissues, which were included.

It does say that but that's not exactly what it is.

It is possible to buy plastic frame work stuff with relatively small (1mm x 1mm? maybe 2 by 2) holes in it in a grid pattern. This was cut and tied into a box shape (with an open bottom so a box of tissues can be inserted and the tissues fed through a slit on one of the top edges) and then the mixing desk is (not sure of the right term here - not cross stitched because it's only single bits of yarn not crosses, not embroidered, but sewn in some fashion anyway (I'm sure Marion can provide the correct termsince she made it)) onto this framework.

It's very silly (in a good way!), needless to say.

Your Techies Blessing is just lovely =) Yes, I'm a sap.

And no black pudding? How can one have a con with no black pudding?!

Hurray for a *full* conrep finally. :) I've been looking through Rob's pictures trying to figure out who is who.

Sounds like a whole lot of fun, and as I say every year, "I hope I can afford to go next time!"
