ODU

Really, the only times I'm gonna post is if the post deserves to go into 'Memories,' which this one does.
Well--- My trip to Old Dominion University........  The campus was nicer than I thought, the brochure did a fairly good job of portraying it.  We left at about 5 on friday, but with traffic and dinner, we didnt really get out on the road until 6ish.  We drove.  And we drove.  And we drove.  Well, there are a lot of colleges in the near vicinity of themselves.  W+M, Randolph-Macon, Christopher Newport, UMW, Norfolk state, ODU, they are all like RIGHT THERE.  We booked a hotel earlier that day (My mom and I), and arrived at about 10:30.  On the way, we stopped at Crackerbarrel and got a book on tape.  If you've never listened to those, do it.  My mom and I always get the series of unfortunate events on tape.  Its read by Tim Curry; he's really good.  Anyway, We arrived at the hotel.  I slept a little in the car, but i still went out like a stone at the hotel.

In the morning, we got ready and headed out to ODU. We managed to catch the early bird tour.  Then, we went to like the lecture hall of some sort or something like that.  They had some current students talk and give their opinions.  We got to disperse to the 6 different colleges.  each  department gave little lectures.  I wen to the Darden College of Education.  My mom went to the undecided.  Apparently they took a tour. After a coule of hours, we walked around, bought a T-shirt, and then drove around to where the dorms are.  The college, which is located in Norfiolk, VA, is in an urban Neighborhood.  It is almost falling apart.  Of course, that's just one part.  We drove downtown; lots of cool stuff.  After we were finished with visiting ODU, we left.  As were were passing the turn off for UMW, i felt a strong desie to tell ym mom to turn, and just leave me there.  But i knew i couldnt, because i had to do hw eventually.

OK.  The Pro's and Con's

PROS:
  • They guarentee an Internship for ANY degree.
  • They Say that the sverage teacher to student average is about 16-1 (total BS, I think)
  • They have SAILING
  • HPF Transit buses will take you anywhere for free if ur a student
  • Lots of open career/major paths
  • Student designed major
  • Public school, low tuiton and room/board
  • Housing guarenteed

CONS:
  • High crime rate,
  • I have a feeling classes are HUGE
  • It almost seems like it babies freshmen (dunno if that IS  a con)
  • TOO MANY STUDENTS
  • Too urban

Well, this entry took about 8 hours to write.  I kept stopping and starting again.  I also just showed, so i feel clean.

Pretty soon, (pretty soon =4 hours) i will be heading down to UMW to stay with Zeke and hopefully go to Jeslyn's classes.  WAHOOOOOOO.!!!!!!  I'm really excited to be going to UMW.  If ODU didnt have a guarenteed Internship thingy, UMW would be my number one choice, with out a doubt.  Im hoping this trip to see UMW inside and out will help me make that decision.

The only hard thing is........getting in........hmph.........

ODU or UMW.....hmmmmmm.......its a dilemma......  and, for my safety school, which will probably be NOVA.  jk.  but seriously........
