So I really did not feel like going to Long Island this weekend since it feels like we are traveling almost every weekend and there is still much to be done in order to get the house ready for the impending parental unit visit next weekend, but in the end I was glad I went. I feel like we got a lot done and I also got to go drinking with friends. First of all, we got to Dave's parents house on Friday night and had brunch with Dave's grandparents Saturday morning. I'm glad the future in-laws know that I don't like eggs and thought to get me bagel with lox and cream cheese since they were making french toast and scrambled eggs for brunch. Then we went into New York and visited the jeweler who made the rings so we could get my ring fixed(one of the prongs broke off), as well as design our wedding bands, which needed to be done. Then we met up with JJ and Sara who happened to be in town for the weekend Unfortunately, most of our NYC friends were not available that weekend since we kind of came on short notice, but it was great to see JJ and Sara and later Tommy. We ended up making our way to this place Sara recommended for lunch and walked all this way only to find out that it was open for dinner only. We ended up going to Pink Berry for a frozen yougurt snack. after that, we went to a micro-brewery the name of which I forget. The beer was good. JJ's friends Steven and Lorene met up with us as well as our friend Tommy. We drank some more.
After we got the whole group together, JJ went off to her Birthright reunion and the rest of us went off to Cooper 35, which was now open for dinner. Sara's recommendation turned out to be excellent since the price was cheap and the quality of food was good. It was this Asian fusiony type place. It came out to only about $20 per person including appetiers, meal, and about two drinks a piece. The only negative was that we were seated right by the door so we were cold when ever somebody walked in. I don't hold this against the restaurant, however, since our seating arrangement was simply due to bad timing (only table open).
After dinner, we met back up with JJ and Tommy left us. We then met up with Dave's siblings, Mike and Laura, and some of their friends at some other bar which I can't remember the name of. We hung out there for a while and then Steven and Lorene went back to Brooklyn, JJ and Sara went to Grand Central Station, and me, David, Laura, and Mike took a cab back to Penn Station. Mike made random conversation with random people on the train ride back. I really wish I had that ability.
On Sunday, Dave's mom went with us to William Senoma and Crate and Barrel to work on filling out the wedding registry. We had dinner at this really good Persian restaurant in LI. I brought leftovers back to eat at work today. The drive back sucked because there was an accident on the highway and it took us two hours longer then usual (5.5 vs. 3.5) to get back. We didn't get back until 2:30am.
It was great to see JJ, Sara, and Dave's family
