So yesterday I went shopping for bridesmaids dresses in NYC with
ramuneqt,
librepajaro,
jjanetc, and
sachisaru3. Yes, I know I know we live in Boston, but NYC is more central to most of my bridesmaids and allowed for the possibility of meeting up with many of our college friends who live around there afterward.
I must say that having
ramuneqt in the wedding is extremely helpful because she is girly enough to know all the style terms that the salon people use to describe dresses, but geeky enough to translate for the rest of us into a language that the rest of us can understand. We went to the first store at 10am and we found some dresses we liked but we didn't like the color selection. I really wanted green dresses since that is my favorite color but the greens available at the first place were all ugly. We were at least able to decide on what style we wanted. Next we met up with
crypticwanderer,
doggiebert, and Dave Tu at the Hello Kitty store and went to Applebees for lunch. They were all hanging out together while we dress shopped since guys tend to find dress shopping extremely boring. We were successful in picking out a dress and were able to get it in a green we liked. I hope the bridesmaids that couldn't make it(my cousins and David's sister) are happy with our selection.
After dress shopping, we met up with the aforementioned people plus
the_jedi, Darcy, Kevin, and baby Serina (or toddler since she's two) at the Nintendo store. We somehow manage to end up there a lot while visiting the city. I wanted to buy a stuffed Yoshi for my cube at work but the line was way too long and the store crowded. Next we pushed and shoved our way through Rockefeller Center to get to the subway. That's one of the things I don't like about NYC, there are too many people, especially around the holidays. We finally made it to the Chinese restaurant to have dinner and we met up with
k_a_new_hope_ly there. Dinner was good, yet hectic since our group was now 13. After dinner, we wandered around and eventually ended up at Dallas BBQ where some of us had huge margaritas.
