"Back so soon, kupo?"
"Dunno what you're talking about 'soon'. It's been a long time."
The little pig creature only fluttered it's tiny wings and tweaked it's nose, seemingly chortling to itself before it handed a small plastic bag over the shop counter to Axel. With a nod in thanks he accepted it and then turned to take off down the frosted brick alleyway, his boots kicking at the grains of salt left over amidst the pockets of snow. He didn't particularly appreciate cold weather, and with obvious reason, but in this case he supposed that he could tolerate it if only because he needed to make room in his mind for more important things.
Like returning home.
It had been months since he'd last been in Traverse Town and the quaint little World hadn't changed much since then. Sure, there were scaffolds being worked on and buildings renovated and dolled up for the holidays, but whether the changes be large or small, he was finally content with his surroundings. Things over in Radiant Garden had been nice, and yet somewhere inside of him he would always yearn for his home here. It was different, each World he had touched, and Traverse Town had it's own personal charms.
Axel walked on with one gloved hand shoved into his coat pocket and if anyone was around to see, then they would be able to tell that he was walking with a purpose. His strides were long and quick and every time he would meet a flight of stairs he would skip steps, not wanting to waste his time. It wasn't the cold, however, and it wasn't the snow beginning to cloud his vision and numb his face which made him rush; it was who he had been waiting to see after all these months back home.
It wasn't long before he eventually approached a small cluster of homes within the next district and even amidst the blinking lights and scattered decorations Axel could see his home nestled in between two others, the lights inside on and the curtains pulled over the windows telling him that someone was definitely inside. One deep breath later and he was at the doorstep, staring up at the red and green wreath hung on the door as he finally brought a hand up to lightly knock once or twice.
((OOC: Happy holidays! In the spirit of the season I've decided to make a more heartwarming post for Axel here. The basic gist is that you and him have settled down in Traverse Town but he's been gone for a long while for any reason--business or just traveling, etc.. But now he's back sooner than expected to surprise you for the holidays~ Feel free to check out his preferences on his journal for reference and, as always, have fun!
