If it wasn't for the sight of nearly every surface of his office completely laden with baskets, bundles and boxes of sweets Toushiro would have had another normal day full of paperwork, training and meetings but at the large card that was poking out from the mass of candy proclaimed, today was his Birthday.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRO-CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Matsumoto Rangiku shouted joyfully as she threw open their office door. Shutting it behind herself she smiled warmly over at him and walked closer, holding a neatly wrapped little box out to him.

"Here you go. I got you something." Her blue eyes were alight with joy as she waited for him to take the gift she had got him. She only hoped she liked it, it was very hard to find and even harder to pay for...especially since she did it all legit and actually used her own money. -_-''' ah the things one did for the people they truly loved.

Inside the tiny box was a crystal necklace, a dragon curled around a sleeping cat. It was a symbol of their love in her opinion and it came with a mate, two of a kind. She herself had the other one and would wear it, replacing the chain around her neck that Gin had given her so long ago with this new symbol of new and hopefully lasting love.

He nearly jumped completely out of his skin from the joyful shout behind him, turning with a fake smile on his face the white haired man looked confused at the small box in Rangiku's hands.

"You didn't have to get me anything Ran-chan." Toushiro remarked with a small blush painting his slightly pale cheeks before he took the gift from her hands and gasped in awe at what was inside. "It's beautiful, thank you."

Rangiku smiled softly at him and nodded. She was happy he liked it and well, the other part of his present would have to wait till after work. She leaned over and gave him a small kiss before heading to her desk to attempt.....working.....

She really did try to be honest...but after about an hour she found herself doodling in the sidebars of the papers and only have glancing at things as she filled them out.

He blushed at the kiss before slipping the necklace on over his head and letting it rest on top of his uniform top for all the see before he went to start sorting through the mountain of sweets that still took up most if not all of his office.

"You know you don't have to be here Ran-chan." Toushiro commented when he noticed that she wasn't truly working. "At least one of us should enjoy my birthday away from all the paperwork."

"I know, but I wanna spend it with you so that means I have to be here where you are...." She murmured before she actually did a few more pages and added them to the done pile.

"Though I would ask you to be at my house around 6 if you would. There's more to your present." Rangiku said as she really and truly tried to get her work done.

"Of course I'll join you later." The young Taichou replied over the top of the couch. "But first could you help me with these boxes of sweets."

Rangiku stood and walked over to give him a hand. "Sure, where do you want me?"

That was such a loaded question as he stopped himself from answering rather crudely while turning to the pile on the other side of the communal table. "That pile over there, you know what you're doing right."

"Sorting out all the watermelon ones, correct?" She asked as she opened a cherry flavored lolly and stuck it in her mouth with a seductive grin.

"Maybe." He muttered before turning his back on her to hide the blush that was creeping across his cheeks rapidly. "Help yourself to anything and use some to refill the supply we keep for Kusajishi-Fukutaichou as well."

"I can do that too." She smiled as she set about sorting the candy which was far more fun than paperwork. Of course, being who she was, she put on an innocent face while she made obscene sucking noises on the lolly and kept pulling it out to lick it.

She really knew how to work him up into a sexual frenzy and that lollipop in her mouth was extremely erotic, he was having a very hard time keeping focused on the task at hand with the sounds behind him.

Well perhaps she wasn't doing it intentionally, but it still had a nice effect. She grinned softly when he wasn't looking at his flustered appearance.

"Taichou, are you alright?"

"I'm fine." He replied slightly breathlessly, still not wanting to look at her.

"Are you? You sound a little breathless, are you catching a cold?"

That made him snap round to face her; "Don't be stupid Rangiku, I don't catch colds." Or at least he didn't think he did.
