Once, the green-eyed man had been a familiar sight around the hotel. Always polite, always smiling, he usually had a softly murmured greeting for people he passed in the hallway. If once caught him in the bar, he would smile that placid smile of his and offer nothing more than a simple game of cards, and even if he lost, there was that soft glint in his eyes that told people that maybe... just maybe, he'd let them win. In one of the dining areas, he was quiet, polite company, and almost always seemed ready to offer assistance when someone needed it.
The still bandaged Hakkai that appeared most recently was anything but the quietly calm man that always seemed to smile. This Hakkai seemed distant and wary of others, even going so far as to venture out of his newly claimed room only when he could hear silence from the hallway outside his door. For the most part, he seemed like a wounded animal, content to brood in his lair and quick to flee if approached.
It had been days... perhaps even weeks since his last foray into the hotel and for the first time since, he felt the urge to venture out again and so he did. Quietly, he slipped from his room and trough the halls, backtracking when he heard voices or moans, only to find himself at a door after what seemed like a hour of walking. Pausing, he gingerly glanced back the way he'd came and found no other option to backtrack, so he did the only thing he could do.
He opened the door.
