By western standards, Konoka was a little young to be sipping alcohol. But then again, those were western standards, and having built more tolerance thanks to no longer being human, Konoka was very fine with her sake, thank you very much.

This rowdy woman beside her, on the other hand, looked like she had a little too much. Friendly as usual, however, the demon girl offered a little conversation: "So what's gotten you these days?"

((She's 18, just to let you know.))

[ooc: So sorry for the delay! LJ didn't send me a notif.]

Doris turned to look beside her at the girl who was sipping her drink; it wasn't beer, but it had a stronge smell, which only meant that it could have been just as potent. Doris herself wasn't much of a drinker, but she found that when her troubles couldn't be handled the old-fashioned way, the bottle was the best place to lose herself. But that did not mean she was an alcoholic -- far from it, actually. A little indulgence never hurt once in a while.

"Oh, the usual. Men." And when she was a little tipsy, as she was now, she was a little more sociable towards people. Any other day, or if the aphrodisiacs were a torrential force, Doris kept to herself and didn't willingly seek out anyone to talk to. Unless they were a certain vampire hunter; Doris was certainly biased when it came to him, but she knew he didn't mind.

"Men?" Konoka had no problems with men, but then again, Konoka was a sociable creature and never really cared. So long as the person wasn't "EEEK, A DEMON" and declared she must be exterminated for world peace, she could usually get along with people. But that didn't mean she wasn't sympathetic to other people's problems.

The wrong kind of men could sour any woman to their advances. "What's wrong with them?" Did she care about the can of worms she was opening? Nope.

Doris turned to the woman, a brow raised in derision. "What's wrong with 'em? Everything. Every damn fuckin' thing, is what. Every man in my life has either died on me, left me, betrayed me and my family, sold me out to a vampire, or tried to rape and kill me." She didn't have to say whether this was family or love related -- it didn't matter because there was nothing she could do to change what had happened to her. It was a miracle she hadn't buckled under from all the beer she'd just drank, but her anger was a lot stronger than alcohol.

Konoka tilted her head at that. Did she agree? Not by a long shot. But then again, just because she didn't agree didn't mean she really cared enough to argue about it. "Even if those things are true, I don't think you should hate them indiscriminately. There are nice men somewhere." She took another sip. "Then again, it's unfair when all the nice people die, man or woman. One of these days, I will change that."

"I'm just better off without them," she finished her beer, slamming the bottle down harder than she intended to and ran her fingers through her hair. Change that? "...You gonna go on some peace campaing or something?" She couldn't help but smile, though deep down inside the idea of something like that seemed.. right. However, Doris had a feeling that such a thing wasn't what this woman had in mind.

"Where I come from, women are able to fight and hold their own, because no one else will defend your home for you, and with monsters and demons running amok, it's every man for themselves unless they have a family to look out for. Though I am a woman, I can look after myself and my brother, I don't need a man to look after me or my brother, and I certainly don't want one who thinks I can't look after myself."

"Hm," Konoka nodded sagely. "Where I come from gender doesn't matter in battle. If you come with preconceived notions, there will be surely someone to prove you wrong." And she knew--the number of people of both genders who greeted her with a punch to the face wasn't staggering, but she knew it was a fairly good sample.

"As far as peace goes, I certainly want it. I know it will not be easy, considering the strife in the past, but..." she sipped again. "I'll try. Especially for the woman I loved, and all my friends."
