Lion-O sat on the large couch, his arms spread across the back of it. The gauntlet and Sword of Omens was attached to his new pants. Black with long blue neon lines running down the legs. His armor was gone and replaced with a matching short sleeve shirt. Bright blue and orange glow rings are around his wrists and ankles, all lovingly provided by ( Read more... )

Akiko wasn't really one for clubbing, and that was where the hotel seemed to want her to be at the moment. Of course. It also stuck her into its usual idea of what was a nice outfit and left her in the middle of a mesh of grinding bodies and light.

Pushing her way through it, she fought to the edges where someone shoved a green drink into her hand. She downed it, hoping it would calm her nerves somewhat. The dark-haired woman spotted a couch, and while it wasn't empty, it was better than nothing.

Akiko walked over, pausing in front of the man already taking up the couch and gesturing at the spot next to him.

"May I sit here?"

Lion-O hadn't noticed Akiko walking toward him at first. He figured it was just another person coming by to pass him on the way to the bar. But when she stopped in front of him, his green eyes looked up her body, taking in the outfit and her form inside it. His eyes met hers and for a moment he didn't know what to say. She was beautiful, that was for sure. He nodded and cleared his throat, finally snapping out of his stupor.

"Of course. Here." He motioned to the spot beside him and moved over a bit so he wasn't taking up the entire center of the couch.

Akiko smiled gratefully, sitting down on the sofa with a sigh.

"Oh, that's much better," she said, looking over at her new companion. He was definitely much more different than any man she had seen before--in fact, there was something about him that was almost inhuman. But not bad looking at all. "Not into dancing either, huh?"

The King smiled weakly at the woman. It was nice to be able to help someone at least. He leaned back more on the couch and shook his head at her question.

"Not really. I've never been very good at it. And I just got back to the Hotel. So I thought I'd take it easy. Never know what kind of tricks it will play, right?"

"Right," Akiko sighed, looking at him sympathetically, "Sorry you had to get dragged back here, though. It's so nice when you think you're finally free of it..."

Lion-O chuckled and shook his head. "I know this is going to stand strange but...I'm glad I'm back. Back home isn't really where I want to be. A break is what I need...even if it is this place." He motioned to the dance floor and all the people around them.

"I mean, despite all the bad things about this place it has some good parts. I've made friends here and I have people I care about here. So being back isn't so bad."

Akiko blinked in surprise, then she thought about it seriously.

"Yeah, you're right. This place has been a good place for making friends," she admitted, giving him a genuine smile. "My name's Akiko, by the way. What's yours?"

"Nice to meet you Akiko. My name is Lion-O." He held out his hand to shake hers, returning the smile with a brighter one of his own. This place could be horrible sometimes yes, but other times it could be great. And he had made a few friends while he was here. Maybe his time he could make more.

Akiko took his hand in a gentle shake, noting the callouses on his palm--obviously he worked with his hands a lot. It actually felt rather nice.

"It's nice to meet you too, Lion-O. So, you said you've been here before. For how long?"

While her hands were soft. So she wasn't familiar with much manual labor or battle. That made him happy. Someone as gentle and beautiful as her shouldn't be subjected to war.

"A few months actually. Then it sent me home for a while before pulling me back. It was strange. Back home it was if I never left and I didn't remember a thing. Weird huh?"

"Yeah, this place does that sometimes," Akiko nodded, taking a drink from a tray a passing waitress held in front of them without thinking. "It's happened to me once before too. And several people I know here went through something similar."

"I guess it's nice to know I'm not the only one." Lion-O followed her lead and took one of his own. He sipped the drink, not thinking about any drugs it might have within it. He was too engrossed in the conversation.

"So what is it like back in your world?"

"I think that's supposed to be my question," Akiko said lightly, smiling at him, "I hope this isn't rude or anything, but you are one of the most different looking people I've met here, and that's really saying something. So, your world must be far more interesting than mine."

"Well I come from a place called Third Earth. It's full of different animals, from robotic bears to fish pirates. The Cats are pretty scarred right now thanks to the war. I'm trying to unite the animals against Mumm-Ra and free the planet." He chuckled nervously. Saying it all out loud always made him feel nervous for some reason.

"Robotic bears?" Akiko was staring at him. Lion-O had her full attention now. "Cats...is that your people? Who's Mumm-Ra?" She was completely fascinated. It sounded like a storyline for a manga or anime or something.

"Yeah. They're little bears made of metal. They're great at building things. They're called the berbles. Yeah, Cats is short for Thundercats. That's what we're called. And I'm Lord of the Thundercats, hence the sword and gauntlet." He motioned to the large golden gauntlet and sword at his side. "And Mumm-Ra...is pure evil. He is a being of pure evil magic and wishes to enslave the entire universe. That's who we're fighting against."
