Was this real? Or was this just some cruel joke? Whatever it was, Tifa was back home, standing in the middle of her bar, the 7th Heaven. Everything seemed to be as it was; the tables were clean and the chairs were resting on their tops; all her glasses and dishes were put away in their drawers and on their shelves; the closed sign was still facing the outside which meant that either tonight or tomorrow night the bar would open. Reaching out with a tentative hand towards a table, Tifa ghosted her fingers on the surface. The touch was light as she was afraid that this was all some dream she was having. It seemed real enough as her hand planted itself firmly on the table, fingers straining from the pressure.
Tifa strained her ears to see if Marlene and Denzel were asleep. Even if she could hear nothing, she found herself going upstairs and checking up on the children. Opening the door a little, she checked on them and smiled; they were sound asleep. This put her mind at ease as she went to her own bedroom and changed into her pj's which was simply an oversized shirt and her underwear. Tifa knew that she was tired but she was so restless that sleep was not going to come easy, even if she wasn't lying on her bed.
Going back downstairs, she fixed herself a mug of tea and sat down at the bar. The silence was overpowering her as she sat there in the near-darkness. Tifa did not miss the hotel at all, but having been there for so long, it seemed so weird being in her own home now, especially after so much time had passed. She had been away, but time here remained, or at least she thought it had. Just thinking about it had her running her hands through her hair, gripping the strands as she rested her head against the countertop, the cool surface cool against her forehead.
It was real... this was all real. She was home.
