He's been an assumed permanent resident in what the hotel has given him as an afterlife for nearly three months, and when Wash got the notice that an island paradise vacation awaited all who wished to come he'd figured it was as good a time as any to try that whole being social thing again. Which is how he ended up sitting at the tiki bar beside ( Read more... )

Claire's sitting back in a bikini, sunglasses, and flip flops, a pina colada in hand. She sees the stranger approach, and gives a smile. "It is now," she says, her tone friendly. She's taking it easy on the flirting, happy just to relax and enjoy some sunshine.

Sometimes the hotel had other plans, but she manages to hold her own most of the time. "Like paradise, isn't it?" she asks casually, motioning toward the resort with her free hand.

(ooc: too lazy to switch accounts, here's Claire. :D I'll probably be making my OC an intro post soon, I'm feeling motivated. In case you wanted to poke her.)

Wash sets his pineapple down with a hollow thump, settling into the low seated chair with a grin. Pretty and friendly, double bonus.

"I've never seen anything like it," he follows her outstretched hand, taking in the view of the place. "I mean, I've really only seen the pool but I've got one of those little bungalows I'm looking forward to checking out later."

He laughs slightly and offers his hand across the small table; "Name's Wash."

(ooc: No worries, always up for a bit of a prod. *grin*)

"Nice to meet you, Wash," she returns easily, shaking his hand. "I'm Claire. I've seen quite a bit of this place; I've been here for a while. Doesn't seem to be a way out, not that I'm trying too hard to leave." While she misses her family, it's awful hard to pull herself away from a place where she doesn't have to worry about anything.

The sex doesn't hurt, either. "Haven't checked out the bungalows, but they look pretty comfortable. If they're like everything else I've seen, I'm sure they'll be pretty much perfect."

He chuckles softly, "Ahh, the hotel... Yeah, I've been kicking around a few months but mostly just keeping to myself." He doesn't elaborate, but adds; "I'm pretty sure I'm in for good - but it's not so bad. I mean, I've got everything I need - and then some."

Wash shrugs and takes a sip off his drink. "A tropical vacation to take a vacation from a pleasure palace - I mean, does it really get better than that?"

"I've found this place... it's a bit more fun once I started to open up some. Normally it's kind of hard for me to get close to people," she admits, taking a sip from her drink. She doesn't push for details, keeping it light and fun. It's hard to feel anything but light and fun in a place like this.

"I didn't think I'd need a vacation from there... but this is definitely a nice change of pace." She'd been tired, a good kind of tired, but still, she knows when she needs to take some time.

He nods slowly, "It is nice." Taking another sip off his pineapple, he leans against the table and quietly adds, "I know what you mean, though... About opening up. That first time, man... I don't know what I'm gonna do."

Wash lets out a nervous chuckle; "It's kinda weird though, I guess... I mean, we're all pretty much aware of the sort of thing that happens here. It's not like it's some big dirty secret."

"Just gotta find the right person," she says, shrugging. "I mean, it's not like anyone here's really looking for anything serious. But, if there's no chemistry even casual sex is going to be awful." Some of her experiences weren't worth bragging about, but she has to admit that she's been lucky.

"It takes some getting used to, but it's kind of freeing that most everyone has the same mindset. Seems like it makes it easier to get along with people, without as much pressure. Everyone knows what's up, and it's easier to find someone who wants what you do." Depending on where she hangs out, Claire has found that she could scratch all kinds of itches here.

He nods, offering a sheepish smile at the frank discussion. "It's... Uh, it's pretty nice."

Wash shrugs; "Everyone here's just so... Nice. It's strange, even when I wasn't really talking to anyone nobody was really mean or anything. I mean, you know I haven't been subject to a single threat since I've been here?"
